China’s launch of a communications satellite aboard a Long March 7A rocket failed on Monday evening after the vehicle experienced an anomaly during flight, state media reported.
The ChinaSat 4B satellite was launched from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site on China’s southern island of Hainan, but the mission did not successfully complete its objective. Chinese state media said the cause of the failure was under investigation. “The rocket experienced an anomaly during the flight and the launch mission failed,” the state-run news agency reported.
The failed mission involved the Long March 7A, one of China’s carrier rockets used to place satellites into orbit. The vehicle was carrying ChinaSat 4B, a communications satellite designed for telecommunications purposes.
