Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Brazilian winger Sávio (popularly known as Savinho) from Manchester City in a deal worth £75 million.
The 22-year-old Brazil international has signed for Spurs after two seasons at the Etihad where he made 84 appearances and scored seven goals across all competitions.
Sávio will wear the number 17 shirt at Tottenham, following the departure of former captain Cristian Romero, who has joined Atletico Madrid.
The winger expressed his excitement after completing the move and revealed that a conversation with De Zerbi played a major role in his decision to join the North London club.
“It’s taken a while but I’m very happy to be here. It’s a wonderful opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world. As soon as I spoke to the Head Coach I knew I had to come. He told me he wants to help me reach the highest level, and I believe we can do that together, as a team.”

Spurs Back Sávio to Make an Impact
Tottenham Sporting Director Johan Lange said the club had been monitoring Sávio for some time before finally securing his signature. “Sávio is someone who has been on our radar for a while and I’m delighted that he is now a Tottenham Hotspur player,” Lange said.
Lange also backed the Brazilian to become a popular figure among Tottenham supporters, adding that he expected the winger to continue developing under De Zerbi. “I know he will excite our supporters every time he gets on the ball and I’m looking forward to watching his development under Roberto’s coaching,” he said.
De Zerbi also highlighted Sávio’s attacking qualities, particularly his ability to take on defenders and create opportunities from wide areas.

Sávio arrives in London with a reputation as one of Brazil’s most exciting young attacking players. His breakthrough came during a loan spell at Girona in the 2023/24 season, where he played a key role in the Spanish club’s historic campaign.
He completed 104 dribbles in La Liga, 18 more than any other player, while registering 11 goals in 41 appearances. Girona finished third, their highest-ever league position, and secured Champions League qualification for the first time.
From Atlético Mineiro to the Premier League
Born in São Mateus, Brazil, Sávio began his youth career at Atlético Mineiro and made his senior debut at just 16 in August 2020. He made 35 senior appearances and scored twice before moving to French club Troyes.
He subsequently spent the 2022/23 season on loan at PSV Eindhoven before joining Girona on another temporary deal, where his performances attracted Manchester City’s attention.
Sávio moved to City in July 2024 and made his debut in the FA Community Shield the following month. He soon made his Premier League debut and later scored his first Champions League goal in January 2025.
During his time at City, he was part of the side that won the Carabao Cup and FA Cup earlier this year, adding domestic silverware to his growing list of achievements.
At international level, Sávio progressed through Brazil’s youth teams before receiving his first senior call-up in March 2024. He made his debut against England at Wembley in a 1-0 victory and later featured at the 2024 Copa America.
He currently has 13 senior caps and one goal for Brazil and will now begin a new chapter at Tottenham, where the club will expect his pace, creativity and one-on-one ability to strengthen their attacking threat.
