The Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF) Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Justina Nelson, disclosed that the Fund achieved an audited profit of GH₵1.1 billion for the 2025 financial year, alongside recording total mineral royalty receipts of GH₵5.43 billion.

This stellar financial performance underscores the sovereign wealth fund’s strategic pivot toward aggressive capital growth, prudent asset management, and enhanced operational efficiency within Ghana’s natural resources landscape.

“MIIF CEO Mrs Justina Nelson noted that the Fund recorded GH₵5.43bn in mineral royalty receipts and GH₵1.1bn in audited profit in 2025, with GH₵5.39bn collected in the first half of 2026. The engagement focused on strengthening collaboration, governance and investor confidence in Ghana’s mining sector.”

Mrs. Nelson further revealed that MIIF’s momentum carried strongly into the following year, with royalty collections reaching GH₵5.39 billion in the first half of 2026 alone.

This substantial revenue trajectory highlights an optimized royalty collection infrastructure and favorable commodity tailwinds, positioning the entity to double its fiscal baseline while scaling equity investments across critical mineral supply chains.

Judicial Commendation and Governance Benchmarks

Chief Justice His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie commended MIIF for its remarkable progress in managing Ghana’s mineral wealth, emphasizing that robust institutional integrity remains the bedrock of sustainable development.

Speaking during a high-level strategic engagement focused on strengthening collaboration, governance, and investor confidence in Ghana’s mining sector, the Chief Justice noted that clear legal guardrails and transparent administration serve as the primary catalysts for attracting high-caliber foreign direct investment into the extractives market.

Strategic Impact on National Development and Economic Stability

The financial revenues generated by MIIF provide Ghana with vital fiscal space, directly supporting national development imperatives and foreign reserve stabilization.

By converting non-renewable resource royalties into structured, interest-bearing sovereign equity, the Fund mitigates macroeconomic vulnerability to global commodity price volatility.

Furthermore, these fiscal surpluses enable targeted domestic reinvestments, funding strategic co-investments in local mining enterprises, value-addition processing plants, and critical infrastructure in host communities without straining the central government budget.

Enhancing Investor Confidence in the Extractive Sector

Through continuous stakeholder engagements with the judiciary and key industry actors, MIIF is actively refining the regulatory and operational environment for mining sector investors.

The Fund’s dual achievement of exceptional profit growth and strong institutional alignment reinforces Ghana’s reputation as West Africa’s premier mining destination.

By upholding world-class corporate governance standards, MIIF reassures international partners that domestic extractive investments are shielded by regulatory stability, institutional transparency, and dependable financial stewardship.
