Work on Bridgerton Season 6 has begun, with script development reportedly under way for Eloise Bridgerton’s story, according to an update from inside the writers’ room that spread across social media this week.
The news came from Fiona Kida, a writers’ assistant on the hit Netflix period drama, who revealed in a “Day in the Life” TikTok video that the team had started on the sixth season.
In the clip, Kida said the writers had kicked off work on Eloise’s next season and were re-reading the books to prepare and see where the characters were left. That detail is the clearest signal yet that Eloise will lead Season 6, a theory fans have held for months.
Netflix has not officially confirmed who will headline the new season, and the update did not come from the streamer itself. Still, the evidence has been building. Showrunner Jess Brownell previously told Deadline that both characters whose initials appear on her pocket square, Francesca and Eloise, would get seasons five and six. Season 5 centers on Francesca, which points to Eloise next.

The order is also a shake-up. Adapting Francesca’s novel in Season 5 and Eloise’s in Season 6 departs from the chronological order of Julia Quinn’s book series. Eloise’s story comes from To Sir Phillip, With Love, which pairs her with the widowed Sir Phillip Crane.
Fans Expectation
Fans should not expect a page-for-page adaptation. Brownell has said the writers aim to honor the spirit of the book and its narrative arc, though there may be slight tweaks to the structure or characters, but not in a major way. Reports indicate Eloise is still set to end up with Sir Phillip, even as the show makes changes along the way.
Eloise may also appear more prominently before her own season arrives. Capital reported that her story could start in Season 5, even as Francesca takes the lead.
Kida is a familiar name in the Bridgerton writers’ room. She joined the series as a writers’ assistant in 2022, started with the production and writers’ room for Season 3, and continued through seasons four and five. Season 6 marks her fourth time working on the series.
The writers have also been laying groundwork for Eloise’s emotional journey. Speaking to Vanity Fair, Brownell explained that the team wanted to give Eloise an arc in Season 4. After everything she has been through, especially with Penelope and Cressida in Season 3, it felt like time for her to open her heart. She is not abandoning her progressive ideals, Brownell said, but she is realizing that marriage can give other people real agency.
In Season 4, which followed Benedict and Sophie, Eloise had a quieter outing after failing to avoid her mother’s matchmaking efforts early in the season. She has been part of the show since its very first episode. Played by Claudia Jessie, Eloise has long been the family’s restless, independent thinker, and her season is expected to test how far her views on love and marriage have really moved.
Starting early is nothing new for the production. Brownell has previously said conversations about Season 5 began as soon as Season 4 finished shooting, and that the writers had often finished the next season’s scripts by the time audiences were reacting to the current one. Work on Season 6 beginning while Season 5 is still in the pipeline fits that pattern.

For now, key questions remain open. Netflix has not shared a release date for Season 6, and the reports do not mention a filming schedule or any new cast members. Because the update rests on a deleted social media video rather than a studio statement, viewers should treat the details as an early look rather than a final word.
Even so, the message from the writers’ room is hard to miss. After years of waiting, Eloise Bridgerton is finally getting her turn, and the people shaping her story are already hard at work.
