Ewura Karim Adams has declared his bid to become Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He announced the move at an event on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, after picking nominations for the post.

Mr Adams explained that vacancies have opened in the party’s communications team. Sammy Gyamfi will not seek the National Communications Officer post again, and Malik Basintali will not seek re-election as deputy. Godwin Ako Gunn also leaves the deputy role.

“I have picked nominations to contest for the position of Deputy National Communications Officer of our dear party, the National Democratic Congress.”

Mr Adams framed the declaration as an act of thanks and duty. He stated that he makes the announcement “out of gratitude, out of conviction, and out of a deep sense of duty to the party that made me.”

He thanked the party’s elders across the country, who supported him in words and in deeds. Every political journey needs allies, he noted, because “no man is an island.” He expects the same backing in the days ahead.

The declaration comes as the NDC prepares for its executive elections. The party has published a timetable for the constituency, regional and national contests, and The Vaultz News reported that National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah is not seeking re-election.

Three Vacancies in the Communications Team

Karim Adams gave a direct reason for running. “A vacancy exists.” He insisted that the three outgoing officers did fantastic work and that he would not have entered the race if any of them had sought re-election.

He then asked, “Why change a winning team?” The answer, he explained, is that the team will no longer contest its roles, and the party needs able people to fill those shoes. He presented his record as proof that he qualifies. Mr Adams stated that he has served, learned, and worked, and that he has the experience, the expertise, and the temperament to step in.

Karim Adams paid tribute to each of the three men whose roles he hopes to fill, and he acknowledged the weight of the task. “The shoes are not just big, but they are heavy,” he noted.

He praised Sammy Gyamfi for taking up the party’s message when many shied away from the NDC. After Mr Adams lost his job following the 2023 Occupy Julorbi protest, he recalled, Sammy Gyamfi was among the first comrades to reach out and offered to find him work.

Mr Adams declined because he wanted to give time to party work. The two met again in New Jersey while President John Dramani Mahama was fundraising, and Mr Adams told him they should first win the election.

He described Basintali, the CEO of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), as a big brother. The two grew up together in Tamale and played football together, so their friendship is not new. Mr Adams credited Malik Basintali with guidance and support along the way.

For Ako Gunn, he used an image from the road. The engine of a car stays hidden until someone opens the bonnet, he explained, and Ako Gunn does that kind of work for the party behind the scenes. When Mr Adams decided to run, Ako Gunn told him to go to the people, talk to them and sell his message.

Rooted in an NDC Family

Karim Adams traced his politics to his home. “I was born in a typical NDC home.” His mother, Hajiya Mariama Reta Saka, belonged to the 31st December Women’s Movement. Mr Adams stated that she helped take the party to the northern parts of the country, especially Bole and the Savannah Region.

His father, Alhaji Seyed Nkareem, began as an assembly member and rose to presiding member, district secretary, and finally district chief executive. Mr Adams disclosed that he was the longest-serving district chief executive for East Gonja. His father worked directly with the late President Jerry John Rawlings during the Northern Conflict of 1994.

From his parents, Mr Adams learned that the party is about sacrifice and service and that a person at the bottom of the ladder deserves a voice at the top of the table.

A Record of Speaking and Service

Karim Adams listed the platforms his voice has reached. He served as Ashanti Regional SRC Vice President, finished runner-up in the National Independence Debate and the AU at 50 Debate, and chaired the University of Ghana SRC General Assembly, where he was named Most Influential Student.

He competed at the Holt Prize Regional Finals in Dubai in 2017 and Boston in 2019. On Class FM, he won Presenter of the Year in 2021 for hosting Talk of the Nation, and he now works at Woesor TV.

Away from the microphone, Mr Adams co-founded the MalTT Foundation and serves as its Executive Director. He disclosed that its work has trained women in agriculture, created hundreds of jobs, and provided free healthcare to more than 8,000 women and men.

With the Accra Food Bank, it has delivered food to 2,000 families, and it has supported girls with vocational skills in Saboba. He is a 2023 Obama Africa Leader and a Mandela Washington Fellow.

Within the NDC, he has served as a communicator, community organiser, fundraiser and emcee, and some members call him the Presidential Emcee. The party’s election timetable will decide when members vote, and Mr Adams has made clear that he intends to be on the ballot.
