The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Achiase Constituency has issued a statement refuting claims circulating on social media regarding the government funding of the construction of a hospital facility in the Achiase District.
The Communications Bureau of the NDC in the Achiase Constituency, in a statement, strongly asserted that the assertions made by Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the spokesperson for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia are “inaccurate and deceptive”.
The NDC Achiase Constituency Communications Bureau’s release emphasized that the Achiase Hospital project is not a government-funded initiative.
“It is imperative for the public to be informed that the Achiase District Hospital project is being financed by the Czech Republic Government through ERSTE/CESKA SPORITELNA EXPORT CREDIT AGENCY: EGAP, with VAMED HEALTH Project CZ as the contracting entity based in Prague, Czech Republic”.

According to the Communications Bureau of the opposition party in the Achiase Constituency, the hospital project is part of a broader commitment by the Czech Republic Government to construct eleven 40-bed hospitals across various regions in Ghana, including Ashanti, Eastern, and Greater Accra, as well as a polyclinic in Ahafo.
The statement pointed out that the Achiase District in the Eastern Region is one of the recipients of the initiative.
The Communications Bureau of the opposition party further emphasized that the portrayal of the hospital project as a government endeavor by the District Chief Executive was inaccurate, therefore chastising the spokesperson for the Vice President, Dennis Miracles Aboagye of disseminating the information without verification.
Furthermore, the National Democratic Congress Communications Bureau in the Achiase Constituency clarified that the hospital being constructed in Achiase, which is a 40-bed facility, does not meet the Ghana Health Service (GHS) standards for a District hospital.
“Per the Ghana Health Service (GHS) standards, a District hospital is one that has a bed capacity range from 60-120 beds”, the statement read.
In this light, the statement pointed out that it is sad and deceptive for the government to classify the Achiase Hospital facility as a district hospital just for political expediency.
Accountability and Transparency Demanded
Moreover, the NDC Achiase Constituency called on Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the spokesperson for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the District Chief Executive to provide evidence supporting their claims that the project is government-funded.
The statement demanded the presentation of official government procurement and contract documents, along with committee records related to the hospital project, to substantiate the assertions by officials of the ruling government.
The opposition party further asserted that the misrepresentation by the District Chief Executive and the spokesperson for the Vice President is concerning and calls for accountability.
“While the residents of Achiase welcome the forthcoming hospital, it is crucial to clarify that this is not a government-funded initiative. The misrepresentation of this project by the FAILED Member of Parliament, the District Chief Executive, and the Government is concerning”.

Developmental Challenges in Achiase
Highlighting the broader developmental challenges faced by the Achiase constituency, the NDC noted that despite years of support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, the Constituency like several other constituencies in the Eastern region has received no significant or adequate development under the ruling New Patriotic Party administration.
This sentiment, the statement noted resonates with many residents who feel neglected by the current administration.
The National Democratic Congress Communications Bureau in the Achiase Constituency concluded its statement with a call to action, urging the public to focus on genuine progress and advancement for the people of Achiase and Ghana as a whole.
The statement emphasized the crucial role of the youth in shaping a more prosperous future for the country.
It also advocated for support for former President John Dramani Mahama, the opposition party’s flagbearer, and its Parliamentary Candidate for the Achiase Constituency, Honorable Samuel Owusu Brako in the upcoming general elections.
“We need to RESET GHANA FOR THE NATION BUILDER President John Mahama and Parliamentary Candidate Hon Samuel Brako”, the statement concluded.
The NDC Achiase Constituency Communication Bureau hoped that its clarification would set the record straight and encourage informed discussions about the project’s true nature and funding.
