The nationwide protest is on, and Nigerians are coming out in their numbers to protest, with a good number of celebrities cheering them on from social media.
Actress Tonto Dikeh has taken a different route with regards to the ongoing protest, as she took out time to praise the President for his good deeds and timely development of the country, which is in direct contrast to what the protest is about.
”Statistics don’t lie: everyone is working to get this country to where we want it to be. One thing about Nigerians is that if they don’t like you, nothing you do will ever be good enough for them. Let’s not deny this glaring truth. Stay safe and make wise decisions always.”

According to the statistics that Tonto Dikeh posted, foreign reserves, minimum wage, forex backlog, oil production, and debt-to-revenue ratio have all been improved.
The statistics Tonto Dikeh posted is a direct contradiction to the cause of the protest, which borders on the hike in fuel prices, food, and daily amenities.
Tonto Dikeh also made a statement, emphasizing her willingness to lose followers over her political support for President Tinubu.
The politician took to Instagram on August 1, 2024, and stressed her commitment to supporting positive change in Nigeria, even if it meant losing supporters.
“If politics will make you unfollow me, please go ahead. I have no hard feelings; I wouldn’t stop supporting to make this country a great place. One thing I wouldn’t do is stress about what you think of my opinion and my choices or even block my comment section. God bless you all with love and light, #KINGTONTO.”

Tonto Dikeh is the first celebrity in a hot minute to discourage Nigerians from going on a full-blown protest, as many of her colleagues are calling for the nationwide protest to be held at all means.
Regardless, Tonto Dikeh isn’t the first celebrity to openly support President Tinubu, as the likes of Toyin Abraham and Yul Edochie have openly shared their support for him.
Toyin Abraham has faced a lot of backlash because she supported President Tinubu, and it was based on the premise that she said he had told her the plans he had for Nigeria.

“How will a market woman understand this when it doesn’t directly improve her life? All she knows is she can’t afford to eat anymore. If these stats aren’t making my life better it’s of no use.”

“It’s quite disappointing that 7.7 million folks are following this type of mindset. If this is your definition of a working state then we are really doomed.”
