Samuel Koku Anyidoho, former Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, has made allegations that Johnson Asiedu Nketia is not invested in John Mahama’s success, and is instead making deliberate statements that tarnish the image of the NDC and undermine its appeal.
Koku Anyidoho’s comment comes as a reaction to the NDC Chairman’s recent statement, in which he declared that the party will not endorse any peace pact or agreement ahead of the 2024 elections.
According to Anyidoho, Johnson Asiedu Nketia harbors a deep-seated aversion towards John Mahama and is instead focused on advancing his own ambitions, particularly his ‘Agenda 2028’, which he claims is driven by Nketia’s treacherous and deceitful nature.
“Have you heard that JM has distanced himself from Mosquito on this reckless and senseless statement? Mosquito wants to ditch JM and I am happy JM has seen through it. This man is very wicked and extremely perfidious. He knows I know that he hates JM that’s why he senselessly tried to sack me from the NDC but it has backfired”.

Anyidoho further noted that during John Mahama’s recent tour of the Volta Region, he failed to highlight any achievements and contributions to the region during his tenure.
He emphasized that the NDC flagbearer, John Mahama, must clearly outline his concrete plans and commitments for the Volta Region if he is re-elected, stressing that merely criticizing the NPP is insufficient and not what the region requires.
Anyidoho accused John Mahama of disparaging the people of the Volta Region by implying that they lack intellectual capacity, which he claims Mahama used to justify the NPP’s alleged use of propaganda to secure double-digit votes in the region.
He urged John Mahama to immediately withdraw his disparaging remark and offer a genuine apology to the people of Volta Region, stressing that they are not daft, but rather a sophisticated and astute electorate that will not be insulted.
“NPP is NOT using propaganda; you are making the NDC lose numbers. You distastefully sacked Professor Awoonor, as Chairman of the Council of State when you took over from Prez Mills. You made sure Dr. Kwabena Adjei was removed as National Chairman of NDC. U think Volta loves what u did?”

Disrespect for Chiefs Costs Mahama Vote
Moreover, Koku Anyidoho alleged that John Mahama’s consistent loss of votes in the Volta Region since 2012 is a direct result of his failure to show respect and deference to the traditional chiefs of the region, who play a significant role in the local political landscape.

According to Anyidoho, John Mahama is guilty of disrespecting the Volta Region by assuming their unwavering support while simultaneously insulting their intelligence by implying their votes can be bought.
He cautioned the former President to be honest and faithful in his commitments to Ghanaians, ensuring that his campaign promises are genuine and not mere rhetoric, as the country approaches the impending elections.
“Please stop the gross deception because President Atta-Mills introduced the National Day of Prayer & Thanksgiving (2009, 2010, 2011 & 2012) at Independence Square. You took over as President & canceled it. If you want to re-introduce it, say so but don’t say you will introduce it”.

As such, Anyidoho noted that when President Atta-Mills introduced National Prayer Day, it was not designated as a public holiday.
He questioned the logic behind making it a holiday now, especially since the prayer event is typically held on a Sunday, which is already a day of rest.
Anyidoho also indicated that the NDC, as a Social Democratic Party founded on the moral side of the political spectrum, must ensure that all its policies are deeply rooted in morality.
He cautioned that if the party suddenly starts adopting highly immoral policies solely for political gain, he, along with others, will strongly oppose and resist such a shift.
