Shatta Wale and Medikal

Shatta Wale and Medikal

Ghanaian music star, Medikal has expressed his gratitude for the “never settle for less” and “never let the public opinion get to you” advice given to him by Shatta Wale.

Medikal explained that being in jail with Shatta Wale led to them becoming “extremely close”, although he has known Shatta Wale for close to seven or eight years.

“He advises and talks to me a lot. You know he has a lot of experience; he’s been in the industry for over a decade. He’s been on the path for a long time and knows where the potholes are and would advise me to avoid them.

“We were locked up in the same place and we spoke a lot and we executed those plans when we came out. He’s always been positive.”

Medikal

When Medikal and Shatta Wale were released from jail, they went to the sea for ritual bathing and later staged a big Accra (Ohene Gyan) Sports Stadium event.

Before the Freedom Wave concert, they had the hit ‘Stubborn Academy’, which has become a tagline for protesters in Ghana.

Getting close to Shatta Wale, Medikal said he discovered Wale was “a different human being”. “He’s changed so many things in the industry,” he eulogized.

“He’s the reason why most of the artists are able to collect some amounts of money. He makes you understand the worth of an artiste. He’s positive.”

Medikal

He challenged the notion associating with Shatta Wale has made him enemies with others.

Medikal Mentions Song He’d Perform For Otumfuo Gig

Medikal named the song he would perform if he were asked to serve the Warlord of Asante, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, with his craft.

Breaking into acapella, he sang his ‘Too Risky’ megahit.

He said apart from the 2014 hit, he would be very sure not to perform any of his numbers that would necessitate his boisterous style of performance.

The award-winning rapper and occasional singer said he was always sensitive to and mindful of the audience he interacts with.

He noted he had sweet music fit for female fans, also, including ‘Ayekoo’ and ‘Gimme Vibe’, among others.

“I’m a universal charger. Your phone will never run out of power if I’m by you. I have Reggae and Dancehall music. I like to explore. I have a huge catalogue.”

Medikal

Furthermore, the musician sometimes called MDK affirmed he was making good money doing music.

He noted music was a lucrative business. “By the grace of God, we’re good,” he added.

Medikal’s Word To President-elect Mahama, NDC

Medikal urged President-elect John Mahama and his incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration to think about the welfare of the country and citizens more.

The rap star stressed the importance of political leaders understanding “it’s work you’ve been given to do.”

“They shouldn’t abuse power. They should make decisions that will benefit citizens in Ghana and not what they feel they are entitled to.”

Ghana went to the polls on December 7, in a punitive action aimed at the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), returning former President Mahama to power, and gaining its first-ever female Vice President in the process – Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang (NJOA).

Following the highly contested elections, Medikal criticized President Nana Akufo-Addo and his administration for being draconian.

He bemoaned being jailed “without tangible reason,”after he was arrested by police and arraigned for brandishing a gun on social media.

Medikal also revealed that he had to clear his name from embassies because of his criminal record to travel, adding that the experience was quite strenuous.
