Ghanaian dancehall artist, Shatta Wale has reignited the long-standing rivalry with fellow Ghanaian Dancehall artist Stonebwoy, boldly asserting that the coveted title of “Dancehall King” now firmly belongs to him.
The controversial declaration follows his return to Ghana after a highly successful performance at the Freedom Street concert in Kingston, Jamaica, where he shared the stage with renowned Jamaican artists and international stars.
Upon his arrival, Shatta Wale was asked by a reporter about his recent role as the only African artist invited by the legendary Vybz Kartel to perform at the event.
His answer left no room for doubt.
“No one has done what I’ve done for the culture. I have worked hard, and now I can confidently say the Dancehall King title is mine.”

This claim, a source of tension between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy for years, has fueled the flames of their ongoing feud.
For Shatta Wale, the evidence is in the accolades, collaborations, and influence he’s garnered in the Dancehall scene, not just in Ghana, but internationally.
He boasted with confidence for being recognized by Vybz Kartel.
“Being the only African artist to represent at such a prestigious event shows how far my reach has extended. Vybz Kartel himself recognized me, and that is something no one can take away from me.”

Shatta Wale’s performance at the Freedom Street concert was not only a moment of personal achievement but also a testament to the global recognition of his artistry.
The concert, which was packed with fans from Jamaica and across the Caribbean, further solidified his place in the Dancehall world.
Yet, despite his strong assertions, Shatta was quick to acknowledge the efforts of his predecessors and peers in the genre.
He mentioned the contributions of veterans like Yoggy Doggie and contemporaries such as Samini, who have significantly shaped the Dancehall scene in Ghana and beyond.“I don’t want to take anything away from the legends who paved the way for us,” Shatta Wale remarked.
“Samini, Yoggy Doggie, and all the pioneers in the game laid the foundation. But right now, it’s about taking it to the next level, and I believe I’ve done that. We need unity in the music fraternity and respect for each other’s craft. This is the way forward.”

His words carried weight, as he acknowledged the foundational role played by older artists who, despite not always being in the limelight, helped cultivate the environment for younger talents to thrive.
Shatta Wale Flaunts New Mansion
The dancehall musician courted massive attention on social media after acquiring a new plush mansion.
The SM boss recently returned to Ghana and received a royal welcome from some Ga traditional leaders and fans, who converged at the airport after his performance at Vybz Kartel’s historic Freedom Street concert in Jamaica.
In recent years, the ‘Killa Ji Mi’ hitmaker, known for his extravagant lifestyle, opened up about his venture into the real estate business and showed some of his numerous properties, including his Shaxi office building in East Legon.
After returning to Ghana, Shatta Wale took to social media to share videos of his new mansion as he and his associate hung out together.
In the video, the ‘Melissa’ hitmaker excitedly celebrated his return to Ghana by throwing a small party, where he and his associates jammed to his music.
The SM boss’ beautifully painted new house had two big swimming pools at the back of the mansion and a big compound with a garage filled with his numerous expensive luxurious cars, including a Toyota Land Cruiser and Range Rover.
A grass pavement was perfectly erected at the entrance of Shatta Wale’s mansion to provide beautiful scenery. Some trees were planted in the home’s backyard to provide shade and air and beautify the landscape.
In the caption, the 2015 MOBO award nominee shared that he had bought the new mansion for a staggering $2.5 million, equivalent to GH₵36,739,798.
Shatta Wale’s new mansion marks his latest expensive acquisition. For his 40th birthday celebration in 2024, he purchased a brand new luxurious 5-seater Rolls Royce Cullinan, which cost between $340,000 and over $450,000.
