Iran’s UN Envoy Accuses Trump Of Fomenting Violence

Trump Demands Iran’s ‘Unconditional Surrender’

US President, Donald Trump.

Iran’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, has written to the UN Security Council expressing concern over Donald Trump’s “interventionist rhetoric” towards his country as he accused the US President of inciting violence.

In a post on social media, Trump called on people in Iran to “KEEP PROTESTING – TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!!” adding, “HELP IS ON ITS WAY.”

Iran’s UN Envoy, Amir Saeid Iravani told members of the council in his letter that a social media post from the US President calling on protesters to take over Iranian institutions “explicitly encourages political destabilisation, incites and invites violence, and threatens the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”

Iran Warns US, Israel Of Retaliation If Attacked

“The statement explicitly made today by the President of the United States, calling for the ‘taking over of institutions,’ must be understood in the context of the failure of the 12-day war of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran in June 2025, and as an integral component of a broader regime-change policy.”

He asserted that the United States and the Israeli regime bear direct and undeniable legal responsibility for the resulting loss of innocent civilian lives, particularly among the youth.

Iravani also called on the UN Secretary-General, the UN Security Council (UNSC) and all UN member states to respond to Trump’s escalating rhetoric towards Iran.

He said that the Secretary-General and the UNSC, “in particular,” had responsibilities under the UN Charter to “unequivocally” condemn “all forms of incitement to violence, threats to use force, and interference in Iran’s internal affairs by the United States.”

Iravani asked the UN to “urge the US and the Israeli regime to immediately cease destabilising policies and practices and to comply fully with their obligations under international law,” as well as to warn the US against any possible “acts of military aggression.”

Additionally, he called on all member states to refrain from “provocative and irresponsible statements or actions.”

According to Iranian state TV, officials will hold a mass funeral for the “martyrs and security defenders” who died during the nationwide protests.

The semi-official Tasnim agency reported that the funeral will take place at Tehran University today and will be the first among many state funerals held for security forces in the coming days.

Iran’s state media has reported that more than 100 security personnel have been killed in the violence since the demonstrations began more than two weeks ago. Authorities have blamed “foreign elements” for instigating attacks on officers.

Iranian state television acknowledged reports of a high death toll from nationwide protests, and quoted Ahmad Mousavi, the Head of the Martyrs Foundation, as saying that “armed and terrorist groups” were to blame.

US Senator Blames Iran’s Leaders For Violence

However, US Senator Ted Cruz backed the antigovernment protests in Iran while blaming the country’s leaders for the violence.

In a video posted on his X account, Cruz said, “Everyone being killed is the result of the ayatollah [Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei] … and his oppression.”

Cruz described the events in Iran as “incredible” and praised “millions of people bravely going to the street standing up against repression.”

He added that Trump “made clear: ‘We have your back.’” “I think there is a very, very real possibility that in the next days or weeks or months that the Iranian regime will fall,” he said, suggesting that removing Iran’s leaders would make the US “safer.”

Mark Kimmitt, former Assistant Secretary for political and military affairs at the US State Department, opined to a news agency that the US President “seems to be very determined to act” in relation to Iran but it is unlikely to be planning a ground attack.
