Famous Nigerian singer, Davido has reached another milestone in his music career, as he celebrates 10 years in the industry.
The ‘Fall on you’ hitmaker, who seemed pretty much excited about this shared on his social media page. Davido took the opportunity to thank Nigerian rapper, Nateo C for a rap verse to his first-ever hit song, ‘Back when’, after entering into the music scene in 2011. He also appreciated the rapper for consistently supporting him throughout his journey in the music industry. He concluded his post with his latest ‘echoke’ emoji and wrote: “Thanks for the verse big bro @NaetoC, all the shows, and support, [I] will never forget! Our leader and advisor! ‘E choke for your side die’! #DavidoAt10 #echoke”.

Most of Davido’s fans shared in his joyous moment as they congratulated him for reaching this far in his music career. Some advised that it is now time for Davido to show how versatile he can be especially as he is releasing a new album. Others also said a prayer for Davido and showered words of blessings upon him. Also, some averred that it is because Davido always gives credit and appreciates people who helped the beginning of his music career, is the reason why they love him and keep supporting him.
Meanwhile, a few who felt Davido was being too picky with his appreciation post emphasized that he should include everyone when appreciating since they all played a huge role in getting to this point. The genesis of Davido’s music career
It can be recalled that Davido started working on his debut studio album ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ in 2011. The album’s tracklist is a mixture of Afrobeats and hip hop.
Davido worked with several music producers like Jay Sleek, Maleek Berry, GospelOnDeBeatz, Spellz, Dokta Frabz, Mr. Chidoo, Theory Soundz, and Shizzi to produce the album. Also, ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ featured guest appearances from Naeto C, Sina Rambo, B-Red, Kayswitch, Ice Prince and 2 Face Idibia.
The Naeto C-assisted track ‘Back When’ was released as the album’s lead single in May 2011. It was produced by Davido and received frequent airplay. The Clarence Peters-directed music video for ‘Back When’ which was uploaded on YouTube 10 years ago currently has over 1.3 million views.
It is worth noting that, even though this album received generally negative;reviews from music critics, who criticized its lyrical content and Davido’s songwriting, the album, however, helped Davido earn several nominations and win an award. The album won ‘Best R&B/Pop Album’ and received a nomination for ‘Album of the Year’, at The Headies 2013. It was also nominated for ‘Best Album of the Year’ at the 2013 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
