President John Dramani Mahama has attributed the recent successes of his administration to the dedication, energy, and commitment of his team of ministers and government officials.

He made these remarks while engaging with Ghanaian nationals in Zambia during his three-day state visit, describing the coordinated efforts of his team as central to implementing his vision for national development.

Speaking to the gathering, President Mahama emphasized that the progress achieved across multiple sectors was not the result of individual effort but the outcome of a collective commitment to a shared vision.

“I couldn’t have done this alone. I have a team of young, ambitious, hardworking ministers and government officials supporting me, and they bought into the vision that I have. We are working together as a team, and that has made all the difference.”

The President highlighted the tireless work ethic of his ministers, noting that their willingness to respond at any hour underscores their dedication to national service.

He mentioned several key members of his cabinet, including Samuel Nartey George, Haruna Iddrisu, and Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister of Government Communications.

“I call him at 2 a.m., and my finance ministers—if I couldn’t reach him, I would move and live at his house because of the number of times I summon him,” President Mahama joked. He used this anecdote to illustrate the level of responsiveness and commitment that has become characteristic of his team.

Collaborative Team Spirit

President Mahama stressed that the collaborative spirit within his administration has been crucial in executing the ambitious reset agenda that was central to his electoral campaign.

He said that from the early days in office, the administration faced significant challenges, including a fragile economy, high debt levels, and weak governance structures.

“We inherited a country that needed urgent restructuring, and the only way to address it was to have a focused, hardworking team that shares the same vision for Ghana.”

The President credited his ministers not only for their long hours and personal sacrifices but also for their innovative approaches to problem-solving. He explained that the team has been actively involved in designing and implementing policies that span education, healthcare, infrastructure, and governance reforms.

Each member, he said, plays a key role in ensuring that policies are executed efficiently and that initiatives reach the intended beneficiaries. President Mahama highlighted the role of collaboration and trust in his administration.

He said that his ability to rely on his ministers to take responsibility and make decisions independently has enabled faster implementation of programmes. “The energy, creativity, and sense of ownership that my team brings are what allow us to move boldly and decisively,” he said.

This, he added, has been a defining factor in achieving what he described as a historic turnaround in national governance and development. He also noted that the culture of teamwork extends beyond ministers to senior government officials and civil servants.

According to him, their dedication to serving the public and aligning with the administration’s priorities has strengthened institutional capacity and ensured continuity in service delivery. “It is the collective energy and focus of everyone working together that has enabled us to confront challenges and deliver results,” he said.

Leveraging the Strengths of a Capable Team

President Mahama framed his acknowledgment of his team within a broader message about leadership. He emphasized that true leadership is not about individual recognition but about motivating and leveraging the strengths of a capable team.

“No leader can succeed alone. It is the dedication of those around you that transforms vision into reality,” he said, urging citizens to recognize the importance of collaboration in public service and governance.

He further remarked that this team-oriented approach has facilitated the implementation of key reforms, including improvements in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and governance.

According to the President, the ability to delegate, consult, and trust his ministers has accelerated progress and allowed the administration to respond effectively to emerging challenges.

Concluding his remarks, President Mahama expressed pride in the collective achievements of his administration. He reaffirmed that the government’s successes are the result of persistent effort, shared responsibility, and unwavering commitment to Ghana’s development.

“We are a great team, and everybody is working very hard. That is what is important,” he said, underscoring the central role of teamwork in driving meaningful change.

The engagement with Ghanaians in Zambia provided the President with an opportunity to showcase not only the accomplishments of his government but also the collaborative ethos that underpins its operations.

By highlighting the energy and dedication of his ministers and officials, President Mahama sought to reinforce public confidence in the administration’s capacity to execute its ambitious agenda effectively.
