Republic Bank assets hit GHS12.33bn milestone

Republic Bank Ghana PLC has recorded a significant milestone in its financial journey, with total assets rising to GHS12.33 billion in 2025.

This represents a remarkable increase of GHS2.74 billion compared to the previous year, underlining the bank’s sustained growth trajectory and resilience within Ghana’s evolving banking industry.

The bank’s performance was anchored on a strong profitability position, as it posted a net profit of GHS287.94 million in 2025. This marks a notable improvement from the GHS210.68 million recorded in 2024, reflecting effective strategic execution and revenue diversification. The impressive growth was largely supported by a 34.57 percent rise in non-interest income, alongside a surge in interest income to GHS1.28 billion.

Profit before tax also recorded a sharp increase, reaching GHS440.29 million in 2025. This highlights the bank’s ability to expand its earnings capacity while maintaining operational efficiency in a competitive financial sector.

Dividend declaration reflects confidence

Following the strong financial results, Republic Bank Ghana PLC has announced a dividend of GHS0.05 per share. This decision signals management’s confidence in the bank’s financial health and its commitment to delivering value to shareholders.

The dividend declaration also underscores the bank’s disciplined capital management strategy, balancing reinvestment for growth with rewarding investors. It reinforces the institution’s reputation as a stable and performance-driven player within Ghana’s banking industry.

Speaking at the bank’s 35th Annual General Meeting, Managing Director Dr. Benjamin Dzoboku attributed the performance to the successful implementation of a long-term strategic framework.

“This performance is as a result of our 5 year strategic plan and with this, we are focusing on the SME sector. The growth of the SME sector was about 2.9% and we are also focused on improving on mortgage approvals.”

The emphasis on small and medium enterprises reflects the bank’s recognition of the sector’s critical role in Ghana’s economic development. By channeling resources into SMEs, Republic Bank is positioning itself to support job creation, business expansion, and broader economic resilience.

Growth in loans and improved asset quality

The bank’s lending activities also recorded steady growth, with loans and advances increasing by 13.22 percent. This saw the loan book rise from GHS3.05 billion in 2024 to GHS3.45 billion in 2025.

At the same time, Republic Bank made progress in strengthening asset quality. The Non-Performing Loans ratio declined from 15.64 percent in 2024 to 14.15 percent in 2025. This improvement reflects enhanced credit risk management practices and a more cautious lending approach.

The reduction in bad loans is particularly significant given the broader challenges within the banking sector, where asset quality remains a key concern. By improving its loan performance, the bank has demonstrated its ability to balance growth with risk control.

Technology and innovation at the forefront

Board Chairman Jonathan Prince Cann highlighted the bank’s commitment to leveraging technology and innovation as part of its future growth strategy. According to him, investments in digital solutions are aimed at improving service delivery and enhancing customer experience.

He noted that the bank is implementing systems that will enable faster mortgage approvals and more responsive solutions for clients. This focus aligns with global banking trends where digital transformation is reshaping customer expectations and operational models.

By integrating technology into its core operations, Republic Bank aims to remain competitive while expanding access to financial services. Faster processing times and improved service delivery are expected to strengthen customer loyalty and attract new business.

Outlook remains optimistic

Republic Bank Ghana PLC remains optimistic about its future prospects, with a clear focus on sustaining revenue growth and further improving asset quality. The bank’s strong capital base, growing asset portfolio, and strategic investments provide a solid foundation for continued expansion.

The outlook is also supported by Ghana’s gradual economic recovery and increasing demand for financial services, particularly within the SME and housing sectors. With its targeted approach, the bank is well positioned to capitalize on emerging opportunities while navigating potential risks.

As the institution continues to execute its strategic plan, stakeholders will be closely watching its ability to maintain growth momentum and deliver consistent returns. The 2025 performance has set a strong benchmark, reinforcing Republic Bank’s status as a key player in Ghana’s financial sector.

The achievement of GHS12.33 billion in total assets marks a defining moment for Republic Bank Ghana PLC. Backed by strong profitability, improved asset quality, and a forward-looking strategy, the bank has demonstrated resilience and adaptability in a dynamic economic environment.
