New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman aspirant Paul Awentami Afoko has urged party members to put aside personal emotions and work together to rebuild the party’s fortunes ahead of the next general election. The former NPP National Chairman believes the party’s electoral setback requires disciplined leadership, strategic thinking and unity among members across the country.
Speaking on the state of the party, Mr Afoko acknowledged the scale of the challenges confronting the NPP and called for a collective effort to restore its strength. He added that the party needs to restructure the current state.
Mr Afoko cautioned members against allowing personal grievances to shape the party’s decisions as he urged them to place the NPP’s wider interests above individual differences. He argued that emotional decisions could weaken the party’s efforts to recover from its current position and urged members to adopt a more strategic approach to rebuilding the organisation.
“Let’s unite. Don’t hold any feelings against each other. When you bring emotions into power, you lose power. You have to put emotions aside and work with our heads. We must be strategic.”

The chairmanship aspirant also appealed to party members to draw strength from the principles that have held the NPP together over the years. Mr Afoko pointed to his own experience within the party, noting that he remained committed to the NPP even though he did not receive a government appointment during the party’s period in office.
“I didn’t get any appointment when the party was in power, but let’s hold on to our abiding principles that have glued us together all these years. So join me, give me the mandate and also work because I can’t do it alone for us to bring our party together, to bring our party up to win our next general elections.”

With the party preparing for its next leadership contest, Mr Afoko has positioned his campaign around unity, organisational renewal and a stronger effort to reconnect with members at the grassroots. He appealed to delegates to support his bid for the national chairmanship and stressed that the task of rebuilding the party would require the participation of members at every level. Mr Afoko formally entered the contest for the NPP National Chairman position with a call for members to focus on rebuilding the party instead of deepening internal divisions.
Politician Clarifies Business Interest In Kempinski Hotel
New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman aspirant Paul Afoko also dismissed claims that he owns the Kempinski Hotel in Accra, explaining that his connection to the luxury property comes through a business interest. Mr Afoko made the clarificationin response to longstanding speculation surrounding his relationship with the hotel.
“I don’t own Kempinski Hotel. I can’t own it outright, but I have an interest in it. That I’m not going to run away from. We built it on loans, a little bit of equity.”

He also recounted how his circumstances changed after his suspension from the position of National Chairman of the party. Following the suspension, Mr Afoko shifted greater attention towards his business activities and the management of his investments, including those connected to the hospitality industry.
The businessman’s remarks place his involvement with the Kempinski Hotel within the context of a wider investment portfolio. His explanation on the Kempinski Hotel therefore sought to settle speculation over the nature of his relationship with the property while acknowledging his financial interest in the venture.
