National Chairman aspirant for the New Patriotic Party, Paul Awentami Afoko has outlined his vision for strengthening the party’s internal structures and improving its connection with members across the country. He said his ambition is to rebuild the foundation of the party by empowering polling stations, electoral areas, constituencies and regional executives.
Mr Afoko explained that the NPP’s future success depends on a strong grassroots system where communication flows from local branches to national leadership. According to him, the party must create a structure where members at every level have the tools and support required to contribute effectively.
The National Chairman Hopeful stated that his leadership approach would combine organisation, reconciliation and accountability to improve the party’s operations. He indicated that the role of a national chairman requires someone who can unite members while also ensuring discipline within the party.

“I will be a team player, but at the same time, I’ll be a field commander, a reconciler, an organiser, a fundraiser, a disciplinarian, a listener and a servant of the party.”

Furthermore, Mr Afoko said the NPP has an opportunity to return to government if it focuses on addressing the needs of Ghanaians and rebuilding public confidence. He noted that citizens require opportunities, businesses seek stability and farmers need support to expand their activities.
The National Chairman aspirant added that the party must reconnect with its traditional principles of enterprise, private initiative and economic empowerment. He argued that the NPP must demonstrate a renewed commitment to creating an environment where individuals and businesses can thrive.
Additionally, Mr Afoko addressed the relationship between the party and the business community, admitting that some decisions taken in the past created difficulties for some groups. He said the party must listen carefully, learn from previous experiences and make adjustments to regain trust.

“The NPP must regain your trust. We must have the humility to listen, to learn and to correct what went wrong.”

He further stated that traders, manufacturers, transport operators, artisans, professionals and technology entrepreneurs must become important partners in shaping the party’s future economic agenda. Mr Afoko stressed that collaboration with these groups would be necessary for building a stronger economy.
Party Renewal Agenda Places Young People And Women At The Centre Of Future Development
Paul Awentami Afoko emphasised the importance of youth participation and women’s leadership in the future direction of the party. He said young people must receive greater opportunities to contribute to decision making and national development.
Mr Afoko argued that the younger generation should be recognised as active leaders who can influence the future of Ghana. He explained that young members of the party must move beyond campaign activities and take up meaningful responsibilities within the organisation.
Addressing the youth, the National Chairman Hopeful urged them to embrace emerging fields including artificial intelligence, digital technology, robotics, biotechnology, renewable energy and financial technology. He stated that Ghana must prepare young people for changes taking place globally.
“Your time is not tomorrow, your time is now. You are not merely foot soldiers. You are the generation that must steer Ghana into prosperity.”

According to Mr Afoko, the NPP must create opportunities for young people through mentorship, innovation and leadership development. He added that removing barriers within the party would allow talented young members to rise and contribute fresh ideas.

Meanwhile, the National Chairman aspirant highlighted the role of women in strengthening both the party and Ghana’s development process. He said women have contributed significantly as organisers, professionals, entrepreneurs, farmers, traders and community leaders.
He stated that any attempt to renew the NPP must place women at the centre of its activities and decision making structures. He explained that women should be recognised as key contributors to communication, mobilisation, fundraising and leadership within the party.
“Women are the backbone of our homes, communities and party structures. As National Chairman, I will work to ensure that women are not treated as an appendix or an appendage to the party agenda, but as a central pillar of the organisation of the party.”

Additionally, he promised that his leadership would promote greater inclusion of women within the party’s organisational framework. The National Chairman Hopeful stated that women should have stronger representation in areas that influence policies and party direction.
He also stressed that the NPP’s return to power would depend on effective collaboration with both young people and women. Mr Afoko urged members to embrace a new approach that values innovation, participation and equal opportunities.
