We’ve Done a lot of Projects in Bono Region- Kwame Baffoe

The Bono Regional NPP Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has intimated that the current government has undertaken projects in the region as a against claims that it has not.

Responding to claims that the region has lots of NPP stalwarts but have ignored projects, he stated that it was untrue.  

“I think that with this statement there was no need for me to respond to him. But to set the record straight,;he is saying that there is no tangible project because we have not printed any green book so,;there is no project. I want to say we have done a lot of projects”.

His statement comes on the back of allegations by the Bono Deputy Communications Director of NDC, Eric Adjei, that there are no tangible projects in the three Bono Regions [Bono, Ahafo and Bono East].

The NDC Deputy Director of Communications for the Bono Region, recently alleged that a tall list of stalwarts of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are natives of Bono, Ahafo, and Bono East regions but are not seeking the interest of the regions.

Pointing out projects undertaken by the Akufo-Addo-led government, he indicated that currently in the Ahafo region, the feeder roads from Hwediem to Kenyase and from Hwediem to Tema is seriously being worked on.

Mr. Baffoe averred that the regional coordinating council building in the region is 95% complete and indicated that it will be commissioned at the end of the year.

“The National Health Insurance Scheme Building is almost complete and I know that building will be commissioned [in] September 2022”.

Mr. Baffoe posited that under the leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo,;the Sunyani Airport which stopped functioning, is currently undergoing some renovation to see its operationalization once again.  

“About a month ago, the transport minister went to do some inspection and he gave a promise that possibly march next year, Sunyani airport will start operating”.

Touching on the delays regarding the reopening of the Suyani Airport, Mr. Baffoe averred that government had to gather the funds for the allocated budget for the project.

“I was there when they handed over everything to the contractor and work is ongoing. I believe that next year, the Sunyani Airport will be opened”.

Touting the projects the current government is undertaking, Mr. Baffoe noted that President Nana Akufo- Addo commissioned the Tomato factory in the Bono Region, specifically Brekum West with an already existing tomato factory in Sunyani.

“The Brekum west [tomato factory] they are in operation now. All the tomato farmers in the Gyaaman north, south, Brekum East, Brekum West, Dormaa East and Dormaa West are now feeding the factory”.

This initiative, he disclosed, has seen the recruitment of about 500 persons at just its initial stage of production. He added that a 5,000 persons capacity sports stadium is being constructed in Dormaa for sporting activities as well. He added that by January 2022, the project will be commissioned.
