The opposition National Democratic Congress Members of Parliament in the Savannah Region have chastised the Vice President and the New Patriotic Party flagbearer for the 2024 general elections, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for failing to ensure the completion of the Damango water project which was started by Former President John Dramani Mahama.

Speaking to the media about the state of the project, the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba Member of Parliament, Andrew Dari Chiwetey lamented over the failure of both President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamaudu Bawumia to complete the Damago water project.

According to him, the Damango water project has been abandoned since the inception of the New Patriotic Party administration in 2017 despite several promises and assurances from President Akufo-Addo and Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to complete the project.

“Well, we thought the NPP government now led by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has some respect for the people of the Savannah region. Just three days ago, we saw some videos and pictures circulating with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia lying in front of the Yagbowura begging him to be enskined as a chief in the Palace, Unity King.”
“But we all know that as a chief of an area, your aim or target is to bring development to the place. So if Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia accepted an enskinment as a chief, he has failed for eight good years to provide them with water. The reason we have called this press conference is to send this strong signal to the New Patriotic Party led by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia that the people of Savannah should not be taken for granted.

VEEP Charged To Ensure the Completion Of the Damango Water Project

Furthermore, the opposition National Democratic Congress Members of Parliament called on the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the New Patriotic Party administration to take urgent steps to ensure the completion of the Damamgo water project which was commenced by the National Democratic Congress administration under Former President John Dramani Mahama.

According to Honorable Andrew Dari Chiwetey, the lack of commitment on the part of the ruling New Patriotic Party administration to continue the Damango water project is untenable and unjustifiable

He noted that the failure of President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to fulfil their promises and assurances to the people of Damango is a clear disregard for the plight of the people in Damango and their difficulties in accessing portable drinking water.

He thus urged the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who was recently enskined ‘chief of unity’ in Damango to ensure the project is executed for the benefit of Damango and its surrounding communities in the Savannah region.

“We should not be taken for a ride because we are a group of people that are kind. We are a group of people who accept every human being because of our humility. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia wanted to take us for a ride and they kept deceiving us.”

Meanwhile, the Special Aide to Former President John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari has criticized the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu for supervising the worst economic regime ever in the history of Ghana.

She further accused Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of failing to demonstrate maturity to see the significant prospects of the National Democratic Congress flagbearer for the 2024 general elections Former President John Dramani Mahama’s 24-hour economy policy proposal.

“This is a man who proclaims to know it all and who has presided over the most abysmal, shambolic economic team that anybody could possibly find. I dare say he has run out of ideas. Sometimes when there is a certain lack of ability to conceive of anything to make you sound believable. Because of course over the years, he has also lost all the credibility that he arrived with. I think that when it comes to these campaign conversations, your credibility, your integrity and believability are very important”.
