The National Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress, George Opare Addo Esq. has called on Ghanaian youths to rise and rally behind the National Democratic Congress and the Minority in Parliament in its #OccupyBOGProtest scheduled tomorrow, Tuesday, October 3 2023.
In a statement signed by the Youth leader of the opposition party, Mr Opare Addo underscored the importance of the participation of all Ghanaians, especially young people at tomorrow’s protest.
He noted that the protest by the National Democratic Congress is a bold declaration of its revulsion against the mismanagement of the central bank by the Governor, Dr. Philp Addison and his two deputies.
“In the furnace of our nation’s trials, we stand at the brink, demanding nothing less than our collective grit and unyielding resolve. As the National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress, I implore you, not just as a leader but as a comrade–in–arms, to rise and put an end to the monstrous corruption and malevolence of the government, tomorrow’s protest is not merely an event; it is a battle cry for every young Ghanaians”.

Opare Addo Accuses BOG Governor of Recklessness
Mr Opare Addo accused the Governor of the Bank of Ghana for recklessly making a loss of over GHS 80 billion within a financial year and described the action of the central bank as a betrayal of the trust and aspiration of the people of Ghana.
“We teeter on the edge of history, our nation held hostage by economic blunders and leadership that has lost sight of the pulse of our people. The central Bank’s insatiable hunger for debt, soaring recklessly into the abyss of over GHS80 billion, is not just a financial calamity; it is a betrayal of the hopes and dreams of every Ghanaian youth”.

The National Democratic Congress Youth leader also accused the Governor of the Bank of Ghana of spending over $350 million on the construction of its new headquarters at the expense of the suffering Ghanaians.
“Let it be known we, the youth of Ghana, will not stand idle as our country is shackled by the reckless squandering of public funds. This protest is not a choice, it’s a demand, an unmissable opportunity to thunder against the injustice”.

According to Mr George Opare Addo, tomorrow’s protest is a destiny march for every young person who yearns for change. He admonished against apathy among young people and called on all young people to take responsibility and protest against the destruction of their future by the current administration.
“This is our moment to rise, united and unyielding against the torrents of economic upheavals threatening to submerge our dreams. March with us on the streets tomorrow, October 3, 2023, not as solitary souls but as an unstoppable force of change crashing against the walls of apathy.
Our protest is not mere disagreement; it is a proclamation that we the youth of Ghana, reject the burden of today’s corrupt, selfish, callous mis-leadership masquerading as the government of our republic. Should you miss this protest, know that over GHS 80 billion of our public money funds will line the pockets of cronies, and over $ 350 million will fund the extravagant lifestyle of a corrupt brigade”.

Mr. George Opare Addo also emphasized the importance of its #OccupyBOGProteset tomorrow as it is geared rallying towards the liberation of the country from the shackles of economic turmoil by President Akuff Addo and the NPP administration.
He believes with the collective efforts of all young people in the country, Ghana will rise again and redeem its glory.
“Tomorrow is not just a protest, it is a revolution, an emphatic statement that we shall not be silenced, that the youth of Ghana will reclaim their rightful place in the moulding of our nation’s destiny.
In unity, in defiance, and hope, we march. Tomorrow, let the street resound with the steps of the young and the fearless for this is not just a protest; it is a seismic shift, a clarion call that reverberates through the halls of power”.

The Minority in Parliament is set hold its protest March scheduled for 3rd October, 2023 between the hours of 8:00 am and 6 pm.
According to the Minority, its is embarking on the #OccupyBOGProtest to express its revulsion towards the many acts of financial malfeasance by the Governor, his Deputies and Directors of the Bank of Ghana as contained in the 2022 Annual Report and Financial Statement of the Bank.
The converging point according to Minority is Obra Spot, where the protest shall commence and follow the agreed route below; Obra Spot – Adabraka – Ridge Roundabout – National Theatre Traffic Light – High Court Complex Traffic Light – Atta Mills Highway – U-Turn to Independence Square.
