Fameye has asked musical artists especially those who are into the highlife music genre to keep up with it since it can win them a Grammy award.

Ghanaian highlife musician, Fameye has disclosed that he never received a dime from the 2.5 million Ghana cedis sign-on money from his previous record label, OGB Music, as reported by the media.

According to Fameye, the sign-on money was used by the label, headed by Ogidi Brown, to shoot music videos and other music-related expenditures and not for his personal use.

Speaking in an interview, the award-winning artiste acknowledged that even though he has parted ways with his former record label, they contributed to the shoot-up of his music career.

Fameye, who says he holds no grudge against Ogidi Brown, revealed that monetary gains from streams of some of his works under his former label, OGB Music, are channeled to his former boss even after paying an undisclosed amount of money.

Fameye emphasized that he has decided not to fight over the ownership of the songs recorded under the former record label for the sake of peace.

“I am just happy I have been able to pay. He [Ogidi Brown] still has my songs. He [Ogidi Brown] is taking monies from the streams of my songs”.

Musical artist and OBG record label owner, Ogidi Brown has issued a stern warning to his estranged record signee, Fameye not to lay claims to any song or video produced under his OBG record label.

Speaking further, Fameye noted that feuds between artists and record labels are usually businesswise. He explained that some record labels perceive that artist signed on their labels have nothing to offer due to the monetary help the record labels render to the artists. However, Fameye elucidated that it is a two-way affair as artists also bring onboard their talents.

“Talent is money, and the record label is also bringing the physical money. So, both of us are supposed to do business. But we make it look like record labels or managers are rather helping artists and the artists have nothing to offer… they are bringing in the talent and lots of energy onboard”.

Fameye stated that some artists are tagged as ungrateful due to issues of unequal treatment in their record labels.

Despite having some issues with his former record label, Fameye averred he is never giving up on music.

Fameye Greater Than

“There’s nothing else I can do apart from music. Even if nobody listens to my music, I will never stop doing music”.

Speaking of his music career, the ‘Noting I get’ hitmaker lamented that his works are underrated in the country because the artistic value of his videos is not immensely appreciated locally. According to him, his works are appreciated by people living beyond the country.

“People outside Ghana and beyond are those who appreciate the artistic value of my videos”.

That notwithstanding, Fameye touching on his latest song titled ‘Praise’, explained that it denotes the story of his life and how grateful he is to God.

The prolific songwriter is currently working on a new EP titled ‘Four chapters of Peter’. According to Fameye, the new project entails “four chapters of messages” he wants to cut across through his music to his fans.

Based on his own bitter experience, Fameye advised young artists to be mindful of the contract they sign when people express interest in helping them hone their talents.
