John Dramani Mahama, the NDC Flagbearer hopeful, claims that when he wins the upcoming 2024 elections, he will create an environment, conducive enough to enable anti-corruption institutions deal with corrupt officials.

He stated categorically that this will discourage government officials under his tenure, from being involved in corrupt activities.

The NDC flagbearer hopeful, speaking to delegates at Lambussie in the Upper West Region, reiterated that corrupt individuals will be punished during the era of the next NDC government, regardless of party affiliation.

“It doesn’t matter whether you belong to our government or past governments, if you steal the people’s money, we will deal with you. If elected as President, I will allow anti-corruption institutions to work. Nobody should come and call me to save them when they catch you. Any person whether in my government or outside my government or in the previous NPP government, if the anti-corruption institutions are dealing with you that is your business because we must save this country.”

NDC Branch Executives To Lead Election 2024 Campaign

John Dramani Mahama disclosed that the 2024 campaign of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will be championed by the party’s branch executives.

Mahama, who is seeking to be elected as flagbearer of the NDC for the 2024 general elections, disclosed that the decision is to allow for expanded grassroots participation, fair and equitable distribution of resources, as well as whip up the interests of key stakeholders during the campaign period.

“2024 is going to be a different election, our branch executives are going to lead our campaign. We will give all the resources you need including bicycles, motorbikes, flyers and all that you will need to move from door to door to ensure that we get the required number of votes to win the elections.”

He added that the party will come out with a reward system for branches that will amass new members onto its fold. He also called on the rank and file of the party in the area to remain united after their primaries, as that will be the surest way to win the next general elections.

The former president also took a swipe at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for leading the country into economic crisis and becoming a laughing stock in the international community, due to its inability to finance its debts.

“This government has borrowed and borrowed to the neglect of all the warnings we gave. The president failed to listen because the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta is his cousin and his bank benefits directly anytime he borrows. These days when I travel outside, people keep asking me what has become of our economy, simply because we have borrowed so much to the point that we can no longer pay.”

He further criticized the Akufo-Addo-led-administration for its excessive borrowing. Mahama stated that when he was leaving office in 2016, the debt of Ghana was GHS120 billion with projects to show for it. However, he said, at the moment, the debt is almost GHS600 billion with no projects to show.

On top of that, John Dramani Mahama claims that the NDC will adopt the style of Jehovah’s Witnesses and go round from door-to-do, house-to-house to campaign for the NDC. “You will campaign like Jehovah’s Witnesses but this time, you will be witnesses of NDC,” he averred.

Mahama as well, announced Ghanaians are calling for the NDC to return to the office. “Ghanaians are asking the NDC to come back because they have realized that what they were told about the NDC, they were all lies,” he said.
