In an interview with Vaultz News, Mr. Henry Osabutey; a Human rights, Peace and Conflict studies expert, offered a poignant analysis of the war’s anniversary, emphasizing the deep emotional scars left on the Israeli society.

He acknowledged that amid continuous fighting, “peace feels very distant with no clear resolution in sight.”

He noted that both sides have suffered immense losses and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to worsen daily.

He asserted that the longer the conflict persists, the more difficult it becomes for either side to find common ground for peace, adding that international efforts to mediate have struggled, leaving those caught in the middle feeling a profound sense of hopelessness.

Also, Osabutey addressed the notion that Israel is targeting Hezbollah as a distraction from Gaza.

He stated that while it’s conceivable that Israel is attempting to address multiple fronts, it’s crucial to recognize that Hezbollah represents a significant security threat.

According to him, the strikes on Hezbollah may be part of Israel’s broader strategy to prevent being overwhelmed by threats on multiple borders, rather than simply serving as a distraction from the Gaza crisis.

Last week, Iran launched a barrage of missiles on Israel and Israel is poised to retaliate.

When asked how Israel’s threats retaliatory strikes against Iran might influence Iran’s involvement in the conflict, Osabutey remarked that Iran’s missile strikes and Israel’s potential retaliation signify a dangerous escalation.

“If Israel carries out these retaliatory strikes, it could further entrench Iran’s involvement in the conflict, likely leading to increased direct support for groups like Hamas and Hezbollah. This situation may also draw in more regional players, increasing volatility.”
