Trainers from the Cybersecurity Association took trainees through the fundamentals of Child Online Protection, popular online dangers, and emerging cybersecurity trends. Consideration was given to how to detect exposures to such instances. The trainees were again enlightened on the concept of Child Online Safety Toolkits in helping to enhance information on the effective and safe modern practices.

Staff To Be Equipped In The Field

The Director of the Research and Information Management (RSIM) of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr. Sylvester Kyei Gyamfi, in his speech, highlighted the need for the initiative. He spoke about how important it is for the staff to have knowledge in dealing with the persistent issues associated with cybersecurity, and also how to protect children online.

Highlighting the importance of preventing the issue, which is becoming increasingly popular in modern trends. He extended his appreciation to the Cybersecurity Authority for heeding their call and collaborating on such an important initiative. He opined is timely and needed to promote child welfare and the associated challenges in these current uncertain times we find ourselves in.

Children in their vulnerable state lack experience, and as such, in their interactions on the digital platforms, they sometimes expose some information that must be kept secret. This poses dangers as they are sometimes exposed to hackers and other threats.

In efforts to protect them, they must also be trained on the need to limit giving out their personal information, which makes them susceptible to threats. Cybersecurity issues have increased due to the increase in the use of technological tools and advancements in social media platforms. Many people are unknowingly exposing themselves to online threats and dangers.

This calls for urgent steps to be taken in this regard and measures to be undertaken to address the issue promptly. Children must be at the center of efforts to curb cybersecurity cases and ensure their protection.

He further emphasized the need to equip staff with the requisite skills and tools needed to effectively and efficiently tackle the problem of online safety, especially in these days of increasing digital engagement.

He asserted that, in recent times, children have been exposed to digital tools and technologies, which has also increased the risk rate in such instances. This necessitates the need for protective measures to be put in place for the safety of children. The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection assessed the significance of the program and the need for it.
