Leandro Trossard is on the verge of ending his three-and-a-half-year spell at Arsenal after the Premier League champions reached an agreement with Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas for the Belgian forward’s permanent transfer.
The 31-year-old has been granted permission to travel to Istanbul to complete a medical examination and finalise the remaining formalities before officially becoming a Besiktas player.
The move marks the end of a successful chapter for Trossard in North London, where he played an important role in Arsenal’s return to the summit of English football.
Confirming the development, Arsenal said in a statement: “We can confirm that we have reached an agreement with Besiktas for the permanent transfer of Leandro Trossard.”
The club added that, “With a transfer fee agreed, Leo has been granted permission to travel to Istanbul to undergo a medical and complete the formalities of his move to the Turkish Super Lig club. We will provide a further update once the transfer has been completed.”
The amount involved was not disclosed but reports suggest it is in the region of €20m.
North London Spell Ends
Trossard arrived at Arsenal from Brighton & Hove Albion in January 2023 in a deal worth around £27 million after establishing himself as one of the Premier League’s most consistent attacking players at the South Coast club.

The Belgian international quickly settled under Mikel Arteta, bringing creativity, versatility and experience to Arsenal’s frontline. Comfortable playing on either wing, as a false nine or in an attacking midfield role, Trossard became a valuable option thanks to his technical quality and ability to influence matches both as a starter and from the bench.
During his time at the Emirates Stadium, Trossard made 174 appearances in all competitions, scoring 36 goals while providing a number of assists.
He played a significant role in Arsenal’s long-awaited Premier League triumph, helping the Gunners secure their first league title in 23 years after narrowly missing out in his first two full seasons at the club.

He also featured prominently during Arsenal’s memorable UEFA Champions League campaign, helping the London club reach the competition’s final for the first time in two decades. However, their European dream ended in heartbreak after a penalty shootout defeat to Paris Saint-Germain at Budapest’s Puskas Arena.
From Brighton Star to New Challenge in Turkey
Before joining Arsenal, Trossard built an impressive reputation at Brighton & Hove Albion after signing from Belgian side Genk in the summer of 2019.
His flair, intelligent movement and eye for goal made him one of Brighton’s standout performers. Across three and a half seasons with the Seagulls, he established himself as a key figure, producing several memorable performances and attracting interest from some of England’s biggest clubs.
That form convinced Arsenal to move for the Belgian during the 2023 winter transfer window, a decision that proved to be a shrewd piece of business. His experience and composure added depth to Arteta’s squad during a period when the club was rebuilding into genuine title contenders.
Now, Trossard is preparing for a fresh challenge in Turkish football with Besiktas, one of the country’s most decorated clubs. The move offers him the opportunity to play a leading role in a new environment while bringing valuable experience from the Premier League, European competition and international football with Belgium.
Although Arsenal have yet to confirm the financial details of the transfer, the agreement clears the way for Trossard to complete his switch once he successfully passes his medical.
His departure represents the end of a memorable spell in north London, where he helped restore Arsenal’s status among England’s elite and contributed to one of the club’s most successful periods in recent history.
Supporters will remember Trossard for his versatility, professionalism and knack for delivering in important moments, qualities that made him an influential member of Arteta’s squad. With his move to Besiktas now close to completion, the Belgian forward begins the next chapter of his career after successful spells in Belgium, England and now, soon, Turkey.
