The Ministry of Education has intensified pressure on the Ghana Police Service to locate, arrest and prosecute an interdicted teacher of Bole Senior High School who remains on the run weeks after a nationwide manhunt was announced over allegations of sexual misconduct involving a student.
The Ministry said the continued inability to apprehend the suspect has become a matter of grave public concern, insisting that the allegations against the teacher are too serious to be overlooked. It further indicated that emerging information points to a wider pattern of alleged misconduct, reinforcing the need for swift law enforcement action and stronger measures to safeguard students across the country’s schools.
“The allegations before us are deeply troubling and demand immediate action. Every effort must be made to locate the suspect so that the law can take its course and justice is served for the affected students,”

Ministry Rejects Teacher’s Explanation
In a statement signed by Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, the Ministry dismissed reports that the fugitive teacher had described his conduct as unintentional during an interview reportedly granted while in hiding.
The Ministry also rejected claims attributed to the suspect requesting a transfer to a village school instead of dismissal, describing such explanations as wholly unacceptable in light of the gravity of the allegations.
According to the Ministry, the interview itself should provide useful investigative leads capable of assisting the Ghana Police Service in locating the suspect.
Officials urged investigators to employ every lawful means available, including digital tracking and engaging the media platform that reportedly carried the interview, to establish his whereabouts.
The Ministry maintained that available evidence strongly suggests the alleged conduct was deliberate rather than accidental, contrary to the explanation reportedly offered by the teacher.
Additional Videos Raise Further Concerns
The Ministry disclosed that beyond the incident that initially prompted the teacher’s interdiction, additional video footage has emerged showing what it believes reflects a broader pattern of inappropriate behaviour.
According to the Ministry, the recordings allegedly depict the same teacher engaging in similar conduct involving other girls believed to be students.
Officials indicated that the new material has significantly heightened concerns surrounding the case, suggesting that the alleged misconduct may not have been limited to a single incident.
“What has emerged so far suggests a disturbing pattern rather than an isolated occurrence. Every allegation must therefore be thoroughly investigated to ensure accountability and protect students from further harm,”

The Ministry further stated that the suspect appeared to have exploited the trust and authority associated with his position as a teacher to prey on vulnerable female students.
The Education Ministry warned that such behaviour undermines public confidence in the teaching profession and threatens efforts to provide safe learning environments across the country.
Haruna Iddrisu Reaffirms Zero Tolerance
The Ministry reaffirmed the position earlier taken by the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, who condemned the incident in the strongest possible terms.
The Minister described the alleged conduct as unacceptable, shameful and entirely inconsistent with the ethical standards expected of professional teachers.
Education officials stressed that teachers occupy positions of trust and are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and responsibility when dealing with students.
They maintained that any conduct that compromises the safety or dignity of learners would attract decisive disciplinary and legal action.
The Ministry also expressed confidence in the investigative capabilities of the Ghana Police Service but acknowledged growing public expectations for swift progress in apprehending the suspect.
It appealed to members of the public with credible information regarding the teacher’s whereabouts to cooperate with investigators by reporting directly to the Police or the Ministry.
“Protecting learners requires collective responsibility. We encourage every citizen with relevant information to support ongoing investigations so that those responsible for misconduct face the full force of the law,”

The Ministry used the opportunity to highlight what it described as an increasing pattern of indiscipline involving teachers, school administrators and students within Ghana’s education system.
According to officials, such incidents threaten the integrity of educational institutions, weaken public confidence and undermine efforts to promote quality teaching and learning.
To address the situation, the Minister has directed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to enforce existing regulations rigorously and ensure that all acts of professional misconduct are dealt with promptly.
The Ministry reiterated that maintaining discipline remains fundamental to creating safe and productive learning environments where students can thrive academically and socially.
Officials further indicated that sanctions prescribed under existing laws and education regulations would be applied consistently against individuals whose conduct falls below acceptable professional standards.
National Dialogue Planned on School Discipline
Beyond the immediate case, the Ministry announced plans to convene a National Dialogue on indiscipline in schools as part of broader efforts to strengthen accountability across Ghana’s education sector.
The engagement is expected to bring together education stakeholders, policymakers, security agencies, school administrators, teachers, parents and civil society organisations to examine the underlying causes of rising indiscipline and identify sustainable solutions.
The Ministry believes the dialogue will provide a platform for reviewing existing disciplinary frameworks while exploring practical interventions to strengthen child protection, professional ethics and responsible conduct within schools.
With the Bole Senior High School teacher still at large weeks after his interdiction and salary suspension by the Ghana Education Service, the Ministry’s renewed appeal underscores the urgency surrounding the investigation.
Education authorities insist that bringing the suspect before the courts will not only ensure accountability in the current case but also reinforce public confidence that Ghana’s education system remains committed to protecting students and upholding the integrity of the teaching profession.
