Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Ferran Torres from Barcelona in a deal worth around €50 million, handing the Spanish forward a long-term contract as they continue to strengthen their attacking options.
The French champions confirmed the arrival of the 26-year-old on a contract running until June 2031, with Torres set to wear the number 9 shirt at the Parc des Princes.
“Paris Saint-Germain are delighted to announce that we have secured the services of Ferran Torres,” the club said in an official statement as they welcomed the Spain international to Paris.
Torres arrives after four seasons with Barcelona, where he established himself as an important member of the squad despite competition for places in a star-studded attack. He leaves Catalonia having scored 65 goals in 207 appearances for the Spanish giants.
His spell at Barcelona also delivered significant silverware. Torres won three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups, while also playing a decisive role in Barcelona’s 2025 Copa del Rey final victory over Real Madrid.
The forward expressed his excitement at starting another chapter with one of Europe’s most ambitious clubs, while acknowledging those who helped make the transfer possible. “I’m delighted to be beginning a new adventure at such an ambitious club as Paris Saint-Germain,” Torres said.
He also thanked PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, sporting adviser Luis Campos and head coach Luis Enrique for trusting him with the opportunity, adding that he hopes to help the club “win as many trophies as possible.”
From Valencia to European Elite
Torres’ move to PSG represents another significant step in a career that has taken him through some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
He began his senior career at Valencia before Manchester City secured his signature in 2020. His time in England lasted only one and half seasons before Barcelona brought him back to Spain in January 2022, where he spent the next four years developing into a more versatile attacking player.
His ability to operate across the forward line is likely to appeal to Luis Enrique, who has previously worked with Torres during his time managing Spain.
Torres is also arriving in Paris with considerable international pedigree. He has been part of Spain’s golden generation and played a key role in their triumph at this year’s World Cup.
He came off the bench in the final against Argentina and scored the decisive goal in extra time, securing Spain’s second World Cup title and adding another major achievement to his growing collection.
That success further enhanced his reputation ahead of the move, with PSG viewing him as a player capable of making an immediate contribution while still having several prime years ahead of him.
PSG Add Another Proven Winner
For PSG, the signing continues their strategy of assembling a squad capable of competing consistently for domestic and European honours.
Torres brings experience of La Liga, the Premier League, the Champions League and international football, as well as familiarity with the demands of playing for clubs where winning trophies is considered an expectation rather than an ambition.
His arrival also strengthens PSG’s options in the final third. The Spaniard’s movement, finishing and ability to operate from different attacking positions should give Enrique greater flexibility when rotating his frontline.
The €50 million investment represents a significant commitment, but Torres’ contract until 2031 demonstrates that PSG see the transfer as more than a short-term solution.
For Torres, meanwhile, the move offers another opportunity to establish himself at an elite European club. Having already played for Valencia, Manchester City and Barcelona, he now adds PSG to an impressive list.
His challenge will be to translate his experience and international success into consistent performances in Paris.
With a new number nine shirt, a five-year contract and a manager who knows his qualities well, Torres begins his PSG chapter with the expectation that he can help the French champions add even more trophies to an already formidable collection.
