Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) in a swift response to a misleading publication, has firmly dismissed allegations that the statutory corporation has incurred losses exceeding GHC3 billion in its first year of operations.

The Gold Board clarified that contrary to the claims, the it has been generating significant surpluses and contributing substantially to the revitalization of the country’s economy.

The Gold Board, in a statement, emphasized that the publication by Asaaseradio is “entirely false and deliberately contrived to undermine the successes and significant contribution of the GoldBod.” The corporation urged the general public to treat the claims with “utmost contempt” and called on the management of the radio station to retract the story and issue an unqualified apology.

“Contrary to the mischievous claims contained in the said publication, the GoldBod has been making significant surpluses/profit since its establishment. Quarterly financial statements of the GoldBod which will soon be published on the official website of the statutory corporation will bear this fact out. “
