The Ghana Tourism Authority December In Ghana open call

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has officially opened submissions for event proposals for the 2026 edition of “December in GH,” the country’s flagship festive season campaign under the Black Star Experience.

Events are scheduled from December 1, 2026, to January 3, 2027. The GTA is inviting event organisers, promoters, cultural curators, and experience creators to submit high-quality proposals that showcase Ghana’s culture, music, fashion, film, cuisine, heritage, and creativity while delivering strong audience engagement and nationwide impact.

Selected events will be included in the official national December in GH calendar and benefit from GTA’s local and international promotion.

In recent stakeholder engagements, CEO Maame Efua Houadjeto has highlighted the campaign’s importance. She has described December in GH as having evolved into “a multifaceted national attraction” drawing visitors for entertainment, culture, investment, family reunions, and heritage tourism.

Houadjeto has stressed the need for stronger standards, collaboration, and regional participation to build on previous successes.

The campaign continues to serve as a major driver of tourism arrivals and economic opportunities across Ghana’s 16 regions, supporting artists, hospitality businesses, vendors, and communities.

Submission Guidelines

Interested parties must submit detailed proposals including the event concept, target audience, venue, production and safety plans, and expected impact. Priority is given to authentic, innovative, and inclusive experiences that contribute to a vibrant national calendar.

Submissions close on Monday, July 13, 2026. Proposals should be submitted via the official GTA channels (details available on ghana.travel and GTA social media platforms).

A previous official release for an earlier edition stated: “GTA invites event organisers, promoters and cultural curators to submit proposals for events … that will contribute to a vibrant and diverse calendar of activities across the country.” The same spirit applies to the 2026 call.

Growing Impact

December in GH has grown significantly, becoming a structured tourism economy and a key platform for diaspora reconnection and creative industry growth.

The GTA continues to work with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, security agencies, and private partners to ensure safety and quality experiences.

International travellers can expect ongoing facilitations and marketing campaigns closer to the season.

Organisers with strong concepts are encouraged to apply early and help shape what promises to be another memorable “Detty December” filled with Ghanaian rhythm, flavour, and hospitality.
