In a press release issued by the Branch Secretary, Otuo Acheampong, he stated that the New Patriotic Party, United Kindom Branch has not made an official declaration in support of any presidential candidate for the party’s November 4 National Delegates Conference.
According to the Branch, Secretary Otuo Acheampong, the purported publication in question is a ‘complete fabrication’, intended to mislead the public and sow confusion and disunity within the party.
He further indicated that the old letterhead of the Branch was forged and deceitfully used to mislead the public, stressing that there has not been any form of meeting directing or authorising the Branch to issue a communique to endorse any candidate.
Moreover, the statement recounted that on the eve of the August 26 Special Delegates Conference Dr Bawumia, like any other candidate, met delegates of the external branches at his campaign office. According to the statement, it was a meeting for the Vice President to share his vision with the delegates.
The Branch indicated that all its 12 representatives to vote on Saturday, November 4 will individually cast their votes in secrecy and wholeheartedly support whoever ultimately becomes the party’s flagbearer ahead of the 2024 General Elections.
It, therefore, distanced itself from the ‘unfounded allegations’ claiming that the New Patriotic Party, United Kingdom Branch has declared its support for Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and urged everyone to disregard the publication.
