Popular Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has finally reacted to attempts by other chefs to surpass her Guinness World Record.
However, it appeared the support Hilda received inspired a lot of Nigerians to attempt to break several records, including the one Hilda just broke.
The 26-year-old lady who owns a restaurant from Akwa Ibom rose to fame after she broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time by an individual.
All through the cooking marathon in Lekki, Lagos, Hilda, during her four-day cooking marathon, received the support of Nigerians both online and physically. The venue was filled with people, including public figures to cheer her on.
The 26-year-old Nigerian chef began on Thursday 11 May and continued through to Monday 15 May, cooking over 100 pots of food during her four-day kitchen stint.
Hilda attempted to set a record of 100 hours, however, almost seven hours were deducted from her final total hours because she mistakenly took extra minutes for one of her rest breaks early on in the attempt.
Since then, Nigerians are cracking up to continue to put their country on the map in bidding to beat Hilda’s record time of 93 hours and 11 minutes.
Finally speaking on how she feels about these attempts in an exclusive interview, Hilda Baci said she sees herself as a trailblazer and an inspiration to others.
“I feel I started a trend or like I am pretty much a trailblazer because only a trailblazer will start something and other people will want to do it”.

Guinness World Records has told netizens to put a halt to the records-a-thons because they have had enough of them.
Guinness World Records is an institution known for awarding people who are able to break a record of facts and achievements.
Hilda Baci expresses frustration as lover fails to propose to her
Renowned Nigerian chef, Hilda Baci, took to social media to voice her disappointment and frustration with her partner for failing to propose to her, despite her remarkable achievements and culinary efforts to win his heart.
Chef Hilda expressed her dismay, questioning why her lover had not yet taken the next step in their relationship in a widely circulated video on TikTok.
She shared her sentiments, stating:
“Is there a reason why, even after breaking the world record, this man has still not proposed to me? I have been making different meals, waiting for him to propose. I have made Ofada; in fact, that’s the juice for another day”.

The chef conveyed her sincere belief that she had done everything possible to show her commitment and affection.
She questioned the audacity of her partner’s hesitation, stating:
“I honestly feel like this is audacity at its height. Because why? I’ve done everything now. What more do you want from me, oga? And he still doesn’t want to propose”.

Chef Hilda’s candid video quickly caught the attention of social media users, sparking a range of reactions and advice.
Some commenters suggested that she refrain from cooking for her partner and instead provide him with the opportunity to take her out for a meal, hoping that this change in approach would prompt a proposal.
However, others also showed support for her and empathized with her in her situation.
Some commenters playfully claimed the role of the proposer themselves or commended Chef Hilda for her approach to love and relationship dynamics.
