One of the key contestants in the National Democratic Congress Parliamentary primaries in the Odododiodio Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Emmanuel Nii Okai Laryea, has outlined some of his major policies to transform the constituency when elected as the Member of Parliament in the 2024 general elections.

Emmanuel Nii Okai Laryea, who was a member of the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana representing the Amasaman Constituency in the Greater Accra Region on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress is seeking to return to Parliament, this time at the Odododiodio Constituency.

As part of his plans to win the party’s parliamentary elections and ultimately win the parliamentary seat in the 2024 general elections, Mr Nii Okai Laryea has released his policy agenda which is divided into five thematic areas, to improve upon the standard of living of his people while pushing an agenda for growth and development for individuals and the area as a whole.

Resourcing the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Education -Rise Fund, Health, Women & Youth Empowerment, Common Fund and Other Funds are the titles under which the five thematic areas are categorized.

In Resourcing the National Democratic Congress, Mr Emmanuel Nii Okai Laryea pledged to explore additional revenue-generating ventures to help the party become self-sufficient and to establish an internally created fund to oversee and assist party operations inside the constituency.

In addition, he pledged to buy two (2) Benz buses for the constituency and eight (8) Mercedes buses for each ward, with the money raised going toward managing the wards’ specific operations.

According to him, the Educational Support (Irise Fund) will come in the form of a scholarship to support brilliant but needy students within the constituency with a seed capital of GHc100,000.00 with special allocation from the share of the Member of Parliament’s (MP‘s) GETFund annually to feed the Fund.

Promise Of An Inclusive Leadership

Moreover, Mr. Emmanuel Nii Okai Laryea emphasized that a 15-member committee, made up of representatives from branches, wards constituencies will manage the fund.  According to him, this would ensure that all the various branches in the constituency are fully represented in the management of the fund.

Furthermore, Mr Nii Okai Laryea pledged to set up the MP’s Health Fund to help constituents in dire need of assistance in paying medical bills.

He noted that the fund will be managed by a 15-member committee equally like the Education Support Fund with a seed capital of GHc50,000.00, which he indicated that he will allocate the  MP’s NHIA share annually towards this fund when elected.

Again, under Women and Youth Empowerment, Mr. Emmanuel Nii Okai Laryea promised that he would institute vocational training in diverse fields for interested young men and women to be admitted for training.

He also pledged to set up the Women’s Wing Revolving Fund while partnering with a financial institution to provide soft loans, which will serve as a revolving fund for women with a seed capital of GHc100,000.00.

Additionally, on the Administration of Common Fund and Other Statutory Funds, Mr Emmanuel Nii Laryea promised to set up a fifteen (15) member committee comprising Assembly Members to make recommendations on the usage of the Common Fund to benefit the various communities.
