The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of planned maintenance works scheduled for the second week of February 2026, as part of efforts to improve the reliability and quality of electricity supply.

The exercise, which will affect selected communities across parts of the Greater Accra and Eastern regions, will result in temporary power outages during specified hours.

“The maintenance activities form part of routine operational upgrades designed to strengthen the distribution network and reduce unplanned interruptions in the long term.”

The first phase of the planned maintenance is scheduled for Monday, 9th February, 2026. ECG stated that work will be carried out between 9:00am and 5:00pm, during which customers in Nsumia and surrounding communities will experience a temporary power outage.

“ECG will undertake planned maintenance works for improved service delivery. This will result in a temporary outage,” the statement noted.

A more extensive maintenance exercise has been scheduled for Wednesday, 11th February, 2026, also between 9:00am and 5:00pm. On that day, a wide range of communities within the Greater Accra Region will be affected as ECG undertakes critical work on its network infrastructure.

Areas expected to experience outages include Fadama, Kwashieman, Nyamejye, Darkuman, Abeka, Lapaz, Tabora and Race Course.

Other locations listed are Kwashiebu, Chantan, Hansonic, Dansoman Junction, Mallam Junction, McCarthy, Choice and Sampa Valley. The planned maintenance will also affect Alogboshie, Achimota Neoplan, Benjilo, Manhean, Oduman and their surrounding areas.

ECG indicated that the scale of the work on that day reflects the importance of addressing identified network challenges in high-demand urban areas to ensure improved power supply going forward.

On Thursday, 12th February, 2026, the maintenance exercise will move to parts of the Eastern Region. ECG said customers in Abease, Achiama, Obeyeyie, Ayikai Doblo and Akramaman will experience power outages from 9:00am to 5:00pm.

As with the earlier schedules, the company stressed that the temporary inconvenience is necessary to allow engineers to carry out essential upgrades and maintenance on the distribution network.

The aim, according to ECG, is to enhance reliability and reduce the risk of future faults.

The last phase of the planned maintenance will take place on Friday, 13th February, 2026, between 9:00am and 5:00pm. ECG announced that customers in New Bortianor, Red Top and surrounding areas will be affected during this period.

In reiterating its commitment to customer satisfaction, the power distributor acknowledged the impact of the outages on households and businesses. “ECG regrets the inconvenience caused to the affected customers,” the company stated.

Throughout the maintenance period, ECG is appealing to customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions, particularly businesses and essential service providers that rely heavily on electricity.

The company emphasised that planned maintenance is a proactive approach to power distribution management, allowing faults to be addressed in a controlled manner rather than through emergency repairs that often result in longer outages.

ECG has consistently maintained that planned maintenance remains one of the most effective ways to ensure a stable and reliable electricity supply.

While acknowledging the short-term inconvenience, ECG believes the long-term benefits will outweigh the disruption. The company reiterated that such exercises are critical to sustaining improved service delivery, especially in fast-growing urban and peri-urban communities.

As the February maintenance schedule approaches, ECG has urged customers to stay informed through its official communication channels and assured the public that power supply will be restored promptly once work is completed each day.
