Olam Agri Ghana is supporting the 42nd National Farmers’ Day celebration with a donation of GH¢100,000 as the country prepares to honour farmers and recognise their contribution to food production, economic growth and national development.
The donation is being presented on Monday at the Conference Room of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Accra. The contribution is supporting preparations for the national celebration, which is scheduled to take place on December 4, 2026, in Sunyani in the Bono Region.
The 42nd National Farmers’ Day is being celebrated under the theme, “Our Farmers, Our Food, Our Future.” The theme places farmers at the centre of Ghana’s food security efforts and highlights the importance of strengthening agriculture as a major contributor to the country’s economic and social development.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the government, the Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, expresses appreciation to Olam Agri Ghana for its continued support for the agricultural sector and the national Farmers’ Day programme.
The Minister also invites Olam Agri Ghana to take an active part in the celebration in Sunyani by exhibiting its products and showcasing the company’s contribution to agriculture.
The invitation provides an opportunity for the company to engage directly with farmers, agricultural stakeholders, businesses and consumers during the national event. It also creates a platform for Olam Agri to demonstrate some of its activities and initiatives within Ghana’s agricultural value chain.

Speaking at the presentation, the Country Head of Olam Agri Ghana, Baibhav Biswas, reaffirms the company’s commitment to supporting farmers and contributing to the development of Ghana’s agricultural sector.
”Agriculture remains an important part of Ghana’s economy, providing livelihoods for a significant proportion of the population while supplying raw materials to several industries. However, farmers continue to operate within a sector affected by issues including access to inputs, financing, storage, markets, technology and climate-related risks.”

The company’s participation comes at a time when Ghana continues to focus on strengthening domestic food production, improving agricultural value chains and increasing opportunities for farmers and agribusinesses.
A Day to Commemorate Farmers
The Farmers’ Day celebration therefore provides an important opportunity to draw attention to these issues while recognising farmers who continue to contribute to national food production.
The GH¢100,000 contribution from Olam Agri Ghana is also expected to support the organisation of the national celebration as preparations intensify ahead of the December event.
The 2026 celebration in Sunyani is expected to bring together farmers, government officials, private-sector operators, development partners, traditional authorities, financial institutions, agricultural organisations and other stakeholders.
