Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has openly acknowledged the weight of expectation that comes with leading one of England’s biggest clubs, stressing that winning is the minimum requirement at Chelsea FC.
The 41-year-old manager is currently navigating a difficult spell, with results failing to meet the club’s high standards.
Chelsea have lost six of their last seven matches across all competitions, a run that has intensified scrutiny around the team and its performances especially after the slim 1-0 loss to Manchester United at Stamford Bridge last Saturday.
Speaking to the media on Monday ahead of their Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion, Rosenior did not shy away from the expectations tied to the role.
He emphasized that success is not optional at Chelsea and reaffirmed the demands placed on both players and staff.
“We have to win, that’s what this club demands and rightfully so. It’s what the fans expect. Now it’s time to deliver. This is the fundamental and what this club demands. The most important statistic is the result.”

His comments come at a time when Chelsea are struggling to find form, particularly in the Premier League, where they are currently enduring a four-game winless run.
The Blues have failed to score in those matches, underlining the attacking issues that have contributed to their recent slide.
Poor Form Deepens Top Five Challenge
Chelsea’s recent results have significantly complicated their pursuit of a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Consecutive defeats to Newcastle United, Everton, Manchester City and Manchester United have seen them drop to sixth place in the league standings.

They now sit seven points behind Liverpool FC, who occupy fifth place, with only five qualification slots available for the Champions League next season.
The gap, combined with Chelsea’s lack of goals in recent weeks, has made their task increasingly difficult with only five matches remaining.
The downturn in form has been marked by both defensive lapses and a lack of cutting edge in front of goal. Chelsea’s inability to convert chances has been particularly costly, as matches that could have yielded points have instead ended in defeat.
Rosenior’s side now faces mounting pressure to turn results around quickly if they are to remain in contention for European qualification.
Each fixture carries increasing significance as the season approaches its conclusion, leaving little margin for further setbacks.
Tough Test Awaits at Amex Stadium
Chelsea’s next challenge comes away from home against Brighton at the Amex Stadium, a venue that has proven difficult for them in recent years.
The Blues have lost three of their last four visits to Brighton, including back to back defeats in both the league and the FA Cup last season.

Their most recent away victory against Brighton came in 2024, when goals from Cole Palmer and Christopher Nkunku secured a 2-1 win. Replicating that performance will be crucial if Chelsea are to revive their season.
Despite the challenges ahead, Rosenior remains focused on the immediate task and has urged his team to continue pushing for a top five finish.
He acknowledged the difficulty of their current situation but maintained that the fight for Champions League qualification is still ongoing. “We’ve made it very difficult for ourselves but we will keep fighting,” Rosenior said.
The upcoming encounter against Brighton represents a key opportunity for Chelsea to halt their poor run and regain momentum.
With expectations unchanged and pressure mounting, the Blues head into the fixture knowing that only a positive result will begin to address their recent struggles.
