National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has called on supporters of the party across the country to remain united and committed to the administration of President John Dramani Mahama, stressing that the success of the current government is a collective responsibility that extends beyond the President alone.

According to him, the fortunes of the Mahama administration are directly tied to the image, credibility, and future of the National Democratic Congress, making it necessary for every party member to play an active role in ensuring that the government delivers on its mandate.

Speaking during his “Thank You Tour” in the East Gonja Constituency on Thursday, May 14, Asiedu Nketiah urged party faithful to remain disciplined, united, and focused on supporting the development agenda of the government over the remaining years of its mandate.

Addressing supporters gathered for the event, the NDC chairman said party members must understand that public judgment of the government will not be directed at one individual, but at the party as a whole.

Shared Responsibility for Government Performance

Asiedu Nketiah told supporters that the responsibility for the performance of the Mahama administration rests on the collective efforts of all members of the National Democratic Congress, warning that any failure of the government would affect the reputation of the entire party.

He said the party cannot afford internal divisions, complacency, or actions that could weaken the administration at a time when Ghanaians are expecting visible progress and meaningful leadership.

“We need to support the government to succeed. If Mahama fails, the embarrassment will be on all of us; Mahama will not only take the fall, but all of us”.

His remarks drew attention to what party insiders describe as a critical period for the governing party as it seeks to consolidate public confidence and deliver on campaign promises.

According to Asiedu Nketiah, party supporters at all levels must appreciate that electoral victory alone is not enough, and that sustaining public trust requires commitment, discipline, and continuous support for the administration’s policies and programmes.

He stressed that the image of the National Democratic Congress remains inseparable from the performance of the government currently in office, making it important for members to defend, promote, and contribute positively to its success.

Call for Discipline and Cooperation

During his address, Asiedu Nketiah cautioned party members against conduct that could undermine the work of the administration, emphasising the need for unity, cooperation, and loyalty within the party.

He urged supporters to avoid actions, comments, or internal conflicts that may create divisions or weaken the confidence of the public in the government.

According to him, internal discipline remains one of the most important ingredients for political success, especially for a governing party seeking to meet the expectations of citizens.

Asiedu Nketiah said every supporter, from grassroots organisers to national executives, has a role to play in ensuring that the administration succeeds in delivering improved living conditions and sustainable development for Ghanaians.

Thank You Tour Gains Political Significance

The “Thank You Tour” by the NDC chairman is seen by political observers as an effort to reconnect with grassroots supporters, strengthen party structures, and reinforce unity within the party following recent political activities.

The visit to East Gonja offered party leaders an opportunity to engage directly with supporters, acknowledge their contributions, and reaffirm the collective responsibility required to sustain the party’s governance agenda.

Asiedu Nketiah’s message also comes at a time when public expectations for economic recovery, social development, and institutional reforms remain high, placing significant pressure on the Mahama administration to deliver tangible results.

His comments reflect a broader strategy within the National Democratic Congress to maintain internal cohesion while building public confidence in the government’s ability to meet national expectations.

By reminding supporters that any success or failure of the administration will ultimately reflect on the entire party, Asiedu Nketiah sought to deepen the sense of shared ownership among party faithful.

As the NDC continues its engagements with supporters across the country, the chairman’s message is expected to resonate within party ranks, reinforcing calls for unity, discipline, and unwavering support for the administration in the years ahead.
