The Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Honourable Stephen Amoah, has rejected a Global InfoAnalytics performance poll that ranked him among legislators with weak ratings, describing the assessment as dangerous and lacking a credible basis. The Nhyiaeso MP argued that the survey failed to properly examine the constitutional responsibilities of Members of Parliament before judging their performance through constituency expectations and broader national issues.
Honourable Amoah challenged the methodology used by the research firm headed by Mussa Dankwa and questioned whether matters such as currency stability and road conditions could fairly determine the performance of an individual legislator. He argued that MPs perform specific legislative, oversight and representative duties that should form the basis of any serious assessment of their work.
“What was the main or core function of MPs that Dankwah Musa dwelt on? If currency stabilisation is not good, is that the MP? If the roads are not good, is it the MP?”

The MP further argued that a performance assessment should account for the personal initiatives and community interventions undertaken by legislators outside their formal parliamentary duties. Honourable Amoah pointed to projects in the Nhyiaeso constituency that he claimed he personally funded, including the construction of a library for a community.
He also cited financial support provided to NPP activists, agents and coordinators who had dedicated significant time to party activities as part of his wider contribution to the constituency and the political organisation. The legislator therefore rejected any suggestion that his parliamentary record could fairly be reduced to the findings of a single opinion poll.
“This is very, very demotivating. This is very dangerous because I believe in myself that with my performance within six years, I do not think you can get more than 10 MPs to do what I have done.”

Honourable Amoah argued that the assessment could create a misleading impression about the work of legislators and undermine public understanding of the responsibilities carried by MPs. He urged the public to examine the practical work undertaken by representatives in their constituencies before accepting performance rankings as an accurate reflection of parliamentary effectiveness.
The Nhyiaeso MP also questioned whether the expectations of constituents used in the survey could serve as a reliable measure when those expectations sometimes involve responsibilities that fall under other institutions of state. His argument focused on the need for a clearer distinction between the work of Parliament and the responsibilities of the Executive, local authorities and other public institutions.
Honourable Amoah consequently called for greater precision in the way future surveys assess the performance of MPs and urged researchers to rely on clearly defined indicators. He is of the view that legislative contributions, constituency representation and community initiatives should all form part of any comprehensive assessment of parliamentary performance.
Global InfoAnalytics Poll Puts MPs’ Performance Under Public Scrutiny
The Global InfoAnalytics survey ranked MPs across 83 constituencies and placed Nsawam Adoagyiri legislator Frank Annoh Dompreh at the top of the performance table with a 98 percent positive rating. The June 2026 poll measured constituents’ perceptions of their MPs and recorded wide differences in approval levels across the constituencies surveyed.
The ranking placed the Nsawam Adoagyiri MP ahead of other highly rated legislators, with only two percent of respondents assessing his performance as poor or very poor. MPs for Tolon and Tain followed with 94 percent positive ratings, while the representative for Navrongo Central recorded 93 percent approval.
Offinso North also featured strongly with a 91 percent positive rating, while the MPs for Kpando and Tano North each recorded 88 percent. At the lower end of the ranking, the MP for Asene Manso Akroso recorded a nine percent positive rating, with 87 percent of respondents describing the performance as poor or very poor.
Takoradi followed with a 13 per cent approval rating, while Bosomtwe recorded 15 percent and Achiase 16 percent. The Bole Bamboi constituency also recorded a 21 percent positive assessment, placing its representative among the legislators with the lowest approval levels in the survey.
The findings also showed that a number of constituents remained undecided about the performance of their MPs, with some constituencies recording significant no opinion responses. Bosomtwe recorded 18 percent of respondents who declined to offer an assessment, while Asuogyaman registered 15 percent.
Such responses suggest that public assessments of parliamentary performance can vary significantly depending on constituents’ level of engagement and their understanding of the work performed by their representatives. The survey has consequently triggered debate over the indicators used to measure the effectiveness of MPs and the extent to which public expectations should influence performance rankings.
