GEPA and the Citi FM Team Meet to Explore Export Promotion Partnership

The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) and Citi FM are exploring opportunities for strategic media collaboration to strengthen public awareness of Ghana’s non-traditional exports, promote locally manufactured products and expand market opportunities for domestic businesses.

The discussions took place during a courtesy call by Citi FM’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Samuel Attah-Mensah, and his team on GEPA’s Chief Executive Officer, Francis Kojo Kwarteng Arthur Esq.

The engagement centred on using media platforms to communicate export sector developments, publicise GEPA’s programmes and connect Ghanaian producers with wider audiences.

The proposed partnership reflects the importance of effective communication in promoting domestic products, encouraging participation in local markets and increasing public understanding of the economic opportunities associated with non-traditional exports.

“GEPA could leverage Citi FM’s media platform to increase public awareness of Ghana’s Non-Traditional Export statistics, communicate the impact of its interventions, and highlight opportunities within the export sector.”

Managing Director and C.E. O of Citi Fm, Samuel Attah-Mensah,

For GEPA, stronger public communication could support its export promotion mandate by increasing the visibility of Ghanaian products and helping domestic enterprises reach potential customers.

Accra Trade House and Friday Market in Focus

The upcoming opening of the Accra Trade House and the Friday Market exhibition featured prominently in the discussions, with both teams considering how media publicity could support the initiatives.

The two platforms present opportunities to showcase Ghanaian products and improve their visibility among consumers and other market participants. Their effectiveness.

However, will depend partly on public awareness, participation and the ability of businesses to present products that respond to market demand.

Citi FM’s involvement in promoting the initiatives could help inform the public about their purpose, activities and opportunities for participation. Media coverage could also provide businesses with greater exposure by highlighting locally made products and the enterprises responsible for producing them.

The Friday Market, in particular, could serve as a platform for bringing locally produced goods closer to consumers while encouraging greater appreciation of domestic products.

Publicity surrounding the exhibition could help attract visitors and create opportunities for participating businesses to demonstrate the quality, variety and usefulness of their products.

“The courtesy call provided an opportunity to identify areas of collaboration between GEPA and Citi FM, particularly in using strategic media engagement to promote Ghana’s export potential, connect businesses with wider audiences, and strengthen the visibility of Made-in-Ghana products.”

GEPA and Citi FM have identified practical areas in which their respective platforms and activities could complement each other. The proposed collaboration also presents an opportunity to connect export promotion with domestic market development.

Greater consumer awareness of Ghanaian products can strengthen demand for locally produced goods, while increased visibility can help businesses build recognition that may support their longer-term commercial ambitions.

Agribusiness Fair Offers Further Collaboration

The upcoming Citi FM Agribusiness Fair provided another area of mutual interest during the meeting, with discussions exploring opportunities to promote agricultural enterprises and improve the visibility of Ghanaian agricultural products.

Agribusiness offers opportunities across several stages of the value chain, including primary production, processing, storage, packaging, distribution and marketing.

Also, strengthening connections among these activities can create opportunities for producers and businesses to increase the value derived from agricultural commodities.

Media coverage of agribusiness exhibitions can help connect farmers, processors, input suppliers, distributors and consumers. It can also provide participating businesses with opportunities to present their products, explain their operations and engage potential buyers.

The engagement also creates scope for communicating the importance of value addition in agriculture. Processing agricultural commodities into finished or semi-finished products can expand commercial opportunities, reduce dependence on selling raw produce and create additional activities within domestic supply chains.

The potential partnership between GEPA and Citi FM therefore brings together export promotion and media outreach around shared interests in local enterprise development, agribusiness and product visibility.

Although the courtesy call identified areas for possible cooperation, the specific activities, implementation arrangements and outcomes of the proposed collaboration were not detailed in the announcement.

The discussions established a basis for further engagement between the two institutions.

The success of any eventual partnership will depend on translating the discussions into sustained publicity, meaningful business exposure and opportunities for Ghanaian enterprises to connect with consumers and prospective markets.

Ultimately, stronger collaboration between export promotion institutions and the media could contribute to a more informed business environment.
