The Minority Caucus has reiterated that the sins of the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison and his Deputy Governors are unpardonable.
The Minority Leader accused the leadership of the Central Bank of being responsible for illegally and excessively printing of money to finance the reckless expenditure of the ‘corrupt and wasteful Akuffo-Addo and Bawumia administration’.
According to the Minority Leader, the actions of the Central Bank pushed over 850,000 Ghanaians below the poverty line.
Again, the Caucus accused the leadership of the Central Bank of writing off the government’s indebtedness of GHS48.4 billion to the Bank without the approval of Parliament and recorded a staggering and unprecedented loss of GHS 60.8 billion in 2022.
“The central bank is bankrupt and insolvent”.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson
According to the Ajumako Enyan Esiam legislator, the National Democratic Congress Minority Caucus in Parliament does not believe that Governor Dr Ernest Addison and his two Deputy Governors who have caused such a mess at the Bank are capable of fixing ttheir mess.
It is therefore calling for a new set of leadership that is politically neutral and able to perform the functions of a central bank in line with its mandate.
“We want a new leadership that can rebuild trust and confidence in the markets, the investor community and the general public”.
Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson
Dr Ato Forson also berated the deliberate refusal of the leadership of the Bank of Ghana to have appreciated the seriousness of Tuesday’s October 3 #OccupyBOGProtest.
It therefore indicated that it will undertake every legitimate means, including more protests, to back its demand for the resignation of the Governor of the Bank of Ghana and his two Deputy Governors.
Minority Caucus Expresses Its Gratitude To Participants Of Its #OccupyBOGProtest
The Minority Caucus in Parliament expressed its deepest appreciation to its participants during yesterday, Tuesday 3 October 2023 #OccupyBOGProtest held in Accra to demand the resignation and or removal of the Governor of the Bank of Ghana and his two Deputy Governors.
In a statement released by the Minority Leader, Honorable Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, the Caucus indicated that it is very grateful to the thousands of people who showed up for the protest to register their revulsion at the mismanagement of the Bank of Ghana by the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Ernest Addison and his two Deputy Governors.
According to the Minority Caucus, the massive turnout of the #OccupyBOGProtest is a clear message to the Governor of the Bank of Ghana and his two Deputies that the people of Ghana have lost confidence in their governorship and that their continuous stay at the Bank of Ghana is untenable.
