Pop star, Shakira has confessed that her children’s “emotional and psychological well-being” is more important to her than dating.
The “Hips Don’t Lie” hitmaker shared that after her horrible experience with her longtime partner Gerard Piqué, she is open to new relations.
“What can I tell you, I like men. That’s the problem. I shouldn’t like them with everything that’s happened to me, but imagine how much I like men that I still like them.”
Shakira
She admitted that her kids, Milan and Sasha, have to be “very prepared” for her to have a formal relationship.
The “Waka Waka” singer exclaimed that she’s not opposed to having friends, but her kids’ emotional and psychological well-being is the priority.
The Grammy winner’s newfound independence has empowered her both personally and professionally. “I’m so much less fragile than I thought,” she revealed.
“Through this process, I became stronger than I thought I was. I became a more independent person, one who doesn’t rely on anyone but herself and her wolf pack.”

This newfound independence has also fueled her creativity, allowing her to focus on producing a complete body of work, including her latest album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran.
Shakira playfully attributed her newfound productivity to being “husbandless,” stating that she was previously “dragged down” by the demands of a relationship.
With a world tour on the horizon and a renewed sense of self, Shakira is embracing her independence and focusing on her family and flourishing career.
Shakira further shed light on the profound emotional turmoil she endured following her breakup with Spanish soccer star, Gerard Pique.
The singer, who announced her split from Pique on June 4, 2022, after 11 years together, spoke openly about the agonizing period.
“It felt like someone had stabbed a hole in my chest. And the sensation was so real, almost physical. I physically felt like I had a hole in my chest and that people could see through me.”

Singer Struggles to Achieve Healthy Work-Life Balance
Shakira admitted she struggles to find a healthy balance in her life as a busy working mum.
The 47-year-old pop star revealed she finds it tough to balance her career with her responsibilities as a mother.
“When we’re mothers, we never dial it down. We can keep working, but our commitment as mothers is non-negotiable.”
Shakira
The ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ hitmaker sees her children as her number one priority in life. However, she acknowledged that it’s not easy to find the right balance.
“Sometimes achieving balance is difficult, right? How much time do you dedicate to yourself, to your work, and to the children? But children always come first and what consumes us the most.”

Shakira has achieved huge success in her professional life. However, she wants her kids to understand that life isn’t always easy.
“I want to show them that life isn’t linear. It’s not how people picture it in the movies. Things don’t turn out the way we want them to and you have to deal with disappointment. That’s part of the human condition. It’s why we’re here.”

Meanwhile, Shakira previously described monogamy as “utopia”.
The ‘Whenever, Wherever’ hitmaker who was with the former soccer star for more than a decade revealed she still believes in love.
“I cannot say that I don’t believe in love because I see the example of my parents after 50 years together; how they look into each other’s eyes and hold hands and can’t live apart from each other. I’ve witnessed love, I just haven’t been that lucky myself.
“Monogamy is a utopia. But I’ve been compensated in other ways, with the love of my fans and my children and true friends.”
