The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed that it is investigating a disturbing report of an alleged sexual assault involving a student of Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School, allegedly perpetrated by two watchmen employed at the school.
Addressing the matter, GES Management said preliminary reports indicate that the student involved is a special needs student who is on medication, explaining that the alleged incident occurred on a day when the student reportedly suffered a relapse and required medical attention.
“The safety, dignity, and wellbeing of every student must remain our highest priority. Any conduct that places a student at risk cannot be tolerated, and where wrongdoing is established, appropriate action must follow in accordance with the law.”

As an initial response to the allegations, GES disclosed that the two watchmen implicated in the case have been arrested and handed over to the Police for further investigation. Management confirmed that both individuals have also been interdicted with immediate effect, pending the outcome of ongoing investigations into the matter.
