Glico General has added Homeowners Insurance Club and GLICO Motor Club insurance policies to its already impressive list of exciting insurance products in the country.
Mr. Charles Graham-Mensah, GLICO General’s Chief Business Development Officer, stated that the insurance products will make Ghanaians’ life easier and add an extra layer of safety to Ghanaians.
Mr. Graham-Mensah averred that the new policies will provide assistance to clients in times of need, and provided an example to support this claim.
“So, we have the Homeowners policy and the Motor Club. The Motor Club is open to all individual comprehensive policyholders. Your premiums should be a minimum of 2000 Ghana Cedis. Imagine you’re driving in the middle of the Tema motorway at 12 am and your car decided to start coughing or you get a problem with your vehicle? What do you do in the middle of nowhere? Well. The club will offer you subsidized roadside assistance. You can easily call, and at any time somebody will come to your assistance.”

The Chief Business Development Officer further emphasized the variety of benefits available to Homeowner’s club members and urged clients to take advantage of this extra beneficial policy that is also incredibly affordable.
“For the Homeowners’ club, anyone who will qualify for this has to have a minimum premium of 500 cedis, and you’ll be entitled to the following benefits. Free Virtual medical consultation, medical services, including ambulance delivery or prescribed medicines; medical laboratory services, exciting free limits of cover for content and accidents up to GHc10,000”.

Essence of Innovation
Mr. Ali Shaibu, the newly elected President of the Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana, asserted that Glico General’s intervention is timely and apt and encouraged all insurance companies to use innovation in their operations.
Mr. Shaibu similarly charged insurance businesses with creating products to address the ever-evolving nature of consumer preferences. He then urged businesses to go above and beyond in addressing customer needs, as customers are the lifeblood of every business.
“We have gotten to a point in the life of the industry when the customer or the consumer has become so sophisticated that they are questioned. Every single thing, every[thing] that they pay a premium, they are questioning what they get in return for it. We need to be ready to go the extra mile. That is where innovation comes in. And today the consumer demands more from us. So, the person has bought Motor insurance, what can you do within the remit of what the regulator is saying? So, what Glico is doing is apt using what you have to get what you don’t have, it’s simple”.
Mr. Ali Shaibu
Mr. Shaibu then encouraged collaboration between the various units in the organization in order to ensure the policies’ success.
“Since the execution of these benefits is in conjunction with GLICO Healthcare, the GLICO General Marketer/Underwriter must immediately inform GLICO Healthcare and share the policy details with them accordingly. This will enable them to generate an access code that will be used by clients to redeem these added benefits. Underwriters must indicate this access code on a loyalty card which will be provided to all branches.”
