The 2023 VGMA artist of the year Black Sherif is set to make an appearance at the highly-anticipated Afronation musical festival which takes place in Nigeria later this year.
With the third edition approaching, the official handle of the event unveiled its artiste lineup, with Ghanaian sensation Black Sherif securing a coveted spot as one of the headline performers.
Scheduled to take place on the 19th and 20th of December, the Afronation 2023 edition promises to be a spectacular event, marking its debut in Nigeria following two successful editions hosted in Ghana. The festival will come off at the Tafawa Square in Lagos, Nigeria.
Black Sherif, known for his compelling and soulful music, is set to share the stage with a star-studded lineup of African giants. Burna Boy, J Hus, Flavour, and Seyi Vibes are among the headlining acts. The assembly of these musical talents guarantees an unforgettable experience for festival-goers.
His electrifying stage presence and energetic performance have garnered him so much attention from the public with fans eagerly anticipating his potential career.
Afronation has gained a reputation for celebrating African music and culture on a grand scale. With each passing year, it continues to draw music lovers from far and wide, creating a unique space for artists to showcase their talent and connect with their fans.
It became an international hit due to its incorporation of music genres across the diaspora, including Afrobeats, Afro-fusion, Amapiano, R&B, hip-hop, and more. Although the full lineup hasn’t been shared, judging by the melting pot of entertainers that appeared at the festival’s other installment earlier this year, Afro Nation Nigeria 2023 should be equally as diverse.
On the event’s website, organizers did reveal a tidbit about what ticketholders should expect. According to a note on the main webpage, due to the predicted influx of attendees, there will be a bevy of viewing areas to ensure everyone can glance at the main stage performances.
Afro Nation Nigeria 2023 has begun VIP pre-sales for users subscribed to their email newsletter. General sales will begin soon.
Blakk Rasta descends on Kweku Baako over Black Sherif’s tweet
Ghanaian musician and radio personality, Blakk Rasta, expressed his unflinching support for artist, Black Sherif following the backlash by some members of the public.
According to him, the criticisms by some government officials and individuals of Blacko’s tweet on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo are unfair because he has the right to voice his concerns as a citizen of the country.
The controversial musician chided the Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, for asserting that Black Sherif is ignorant of his tweet on President Akufo-Addo concerning the UN conference.
Black Rasta indicated that there is nothing wrong with Black Sherif’s tweet hence he should be allowed to air his opinion.
“Blacko might not understand what it is to say ‘reparations’ but Blacko is not wrong. All those people calling out Blacko and saying he’s ignorant he should have known, is Ghana not an African country? Since when has Ghana become a European country?”, he quizzed.
“The reparations of $88 billion Nana Akufo-Addo is asking for, if it’s returned to Africa, is Ghana not going to be part of the $88 billion? If Blacko says Nana Akufo-Addo is asking for so much money I have never ever had in my life, is he wrong? Some people just want to play knowledgeable, some people just want to play smart. Kweku Baako also came out and spoke against what Blacko said and said he should get the facts; show me where Blacko is wrong”.
