Filmmaker and rapper, JJC Skillz, has announced the end of his marriage to his wife, Funke Akindele-Bello.
JJC Skillz, who had in April denied reports of his marriage crisis, confirmed the development in a post on his Instagram page. He said the last two years had been extremely difficult for them.
“Dear Friends and family, I need to let you know that Funke and I have separated. While it lasted, we shared a lot of things together and have created 2 beautiful children. The last two years have been extremely difficult for us. I know I have tried my best to fix things, but I believe it is beyond repair now. 3 months ago and at Funke’s insistence, I moved out of the house and apart from AMVCA have not been able to get Funke to sit down in an amicable manner to discuss the future of our relationship”.

According to the musician, he is making this announcement so that the public is clear that they both are pursuing separate lives. He also noted that they still have issues that needs to be addressed such as the custody and wellbeing of their children, which is paramount, as well as business interests that need to be disentangled. He concluded that he has no doubt that the issue will be resolved one way or the other.
Meanwhile, Funke is yet to comment on this development.
This is coming at a time that Funke has been nominated for Lagos Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deputy governorship position. PDP shortlisted five nominees as the potential running mate of the party’s governorship candidate, Alhaji Abdulaziz Olajide Adediran popularly known as Jandor.
While this news comes as a shock to many, some were actually expecting it. Earlier this year, in April, there were reports that all was not well between Funke and her husband, JJC Skillz. According to several reports, the widely celebrated celebrity couple’s marriage was hit with finance-related issues. There were allegations of alleged financial misappropriation.
However, one of the movie star’s stepsons, Benito, hinted about the rumors being true after he commented on a Tiktok post that reported about the crisis in the Bellos home. Benito added that he lived in their house for two years and it was a “horror”. However, the celebrity couple never released any statement concerning the development until now.
It is worth noting that Funke and JJC Skillz got married in 2016. They welcomed their set of twins in 2018.
Funke Akindele opens Up On First Failed Marriage
For Funke, this is her second failed marriage. Funke Akindele got married to Oloyede, a Lagos-based businessman, in 2012 and the marriage lasted for only 413 days as issues of abuse and infidelity surrounded the union.
It can be recalled that last year, she opened up about her first failed marriage with her ex-husband Adeola Oloyede. The actress, in an interview, admonished young women against rushing into marriage because of pressure. Citing her first marriage as an example, she revealed what went wrong.
“You know, I just wanted to get married. I wanted to do things right, have children and all that, and I went into the (first) marriage. It didn’t work, fine, and it ended in a very bad way. On social media, the noise was everywhere. I was actually filming and somebody called me and told me, I wanted to die! You know I cried, lost some good deals then. But I didn’t let it break me”.
