American-Ghanaian comedian and actor, Michael Blackson, has called for a partnership between Hollywood movie producer, Tyler Perry, and himself, to build a film studio in Ghana.
Micheal Blackson took to his Twitter page, tagged the renowned Hollywood Filmmaker, and made his request. He suggested that he will be acquiring the land needed for the studio, whereas Tyler Perry who has been recognized as one of the best filmmakers in the world, will focus on building the studio.
Michael wrote: “Hey @tylerperry let’s go half on a film studio in Ghana, I’ll get the land and you build the studio”.
Meanwhile, Tyler Perry is yet to respond to Michael’s request.
Michael Blackson to Project Ghana Through film
Michael Blackson, in a recent interview, revealed that he will be shooting a film in Ghana this summer. According to him, this is one of the first few steps he is taking to help elevate the Ghana movie industry. He explained that he would like to showcase Ghana to the world through his movies. He further emphasized that this could help not only project the country but also build support and investments for the movie industry.
“I decided this summer that I will shoot a project here. It would be a comedic series, something I could sell to Netflix and Amazon. Ghana has so much beauty that I want the world to see. I want us to eventually be a place where people come to shoot a big movie”.

Micheal Blackson averred that to ensure the movie industry sees growth, he would interact with some of his colleagues to see if they would invest in Ghana’s film industry and build a film studio.
“I ran into a few film commissioners that were here last week. We talked about it, how we need a big film studio here. So, I am going to reach out to my big boys to see if they would be interested in extending something over here”.

Meanwhile, he urged actors willing to be part of the cast in a role for his movie to stay tuned on his Instagram page. The comedian mentioned that he would update the page on when and how people can audition, among others.
Aside building a film studio and promoting Ghana through films, Michael Blackson revealed that he will soon be opening a school that will be free for the students. Michael Blackson, speaking about the opening of the school, disclosed that the First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo, promised to be at the opening ceremony of his school.
According to him, the First Lady told him during a meeting that she was proud of the work he was doing at Nsaba and excited about the opportunities his new school will present to children within the community.
“She [Rebecca Akuffo-Addo] was excited because a lot of times people do come to build schools, but there is a difference between building a school and making it free for the children. There is a difference because, even though it is free for the kids, you pay for the teachers. She was very proud of me and she says she wants to be there to cut the ribbon when the school opens”.

Asked why he chose to build a school, Michael answered stating that he wanted to give back to his community. He explained that making the school free would ensure the kids are able to afford it without worrying about expenses.
Micheal Blackson stated that he decided to cut down on unnecessary spending and save towards things that were worthy and important.
The school, Michael Blackson revealed, is expected to begin operations in September 2022. According to him, he has been in Ghana more often in the past year, because, he wants to keep an eye on the construction mostly to ensure the school reopens as planned.
“In fact, I got a bigger construction company to take over the project. I have a timeline. It has to be done within six months because in September I want the kids to go to school”.
