Ghanaian musician and socialite, Hajia4Reall, born Mona Faiz Montrage, will face sentencing today June 28, 2024, in a US court over internet fraud charges she has pleaded guilty to.
The socialite’s legal team had earlier pleaded with the court for a three-month sentence because she is a single mother whose presence in the life of her child is very crucial.
But the US Attorney’s Office has acted in opposition, citing similar cases to argue for the full 37-month term.
To the US Attorney’s Office, a reduced sentence will not be fair and will not serve as a proper deterrent to people.
Hajia4Reall named the father of her daughter as the person who introduced her to internet fraud.
According to her, she met this man in 2015 and fell In love with him in the United States of America.
She later discovered he was into fraud, something he introduced her to and got her involved in.
The man involved is Loveman Allison who she says has even been an irresponsible father to their daughter.
Hajia4Reall pleaded for a short sentence, indicating that she is a single mother and that her absence could be detrimental to her daughter.
Moreover, Popular Ghanaian musician and socialite, Sam Safo widely known as Showboy who was recently deported to Ghana after serving years behind bars in the US stated that Hajia4Reall isn’t going to get a reduced sentence.
According to Showboy, he doesn’t know the issue Hajia4reall is having with Loveman to the extent of mentioning his name when she knows he is already in the books for a crime committed.
Showboy who is unhappy with the decision by Hajia to snitch on their baby daddy wondered why she would do that and questioned if she was doing that to reduce her sentence or jail term.
He indicated that the socialite forgot that the accused was entitled to defend himself in court, which would be her statement against theirs.
Showboy advised that what Hajia4reall was supposed to do was to keep quiet, take her jail term, and serve instead of snitching on her baby daddy who has already been convicted in the US.
According to reports, the socialite who has been talking about her rise through entrepreneurship was involved in a romance scam to the tune of $2 million.
The socialite has been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and one count of money laundering conspiracy and one count of money laundering, she is also charged with one count of receipt of stolen money which carries a 10-year prison sentence, and conspiracy to receive stolen cash which carries five years jail term.
US Gov’t Calls for Substantial Imprisonment for Hajia4Reall’s Crimes
The US government underscored the gravity of Hajia4Reall’s fraudulent activities, involving laundering over $2 million for six years, warranting a substantial sentence.
In a court submission by the prosecution, Hajia4Reall’s involvement in receiving funds from more than 40 victims, deceived by her enterprise, was highlighted.
The crimes ranged from romance scams to gold scams and money laundering and others.
It was emphasized that Hajia4Reall allegedly amassed over $2 million from victims through various fraudulent schemes over six years, from 2013 to 2019.
The prosecution noted that she maintained multiple bank accounts in the Bronx, New York, where she laundered proceeds from approximately 40 victims.
Furthermore, the US government pointed out that Hajia4Reall’s actions were part of a larger criminal conspiracy based in Ghana, targeting Americans.
They stressed that despite leniency during the trial process, her substantial involvement in defrauding elder men through romance scams was undeniable.
Several of Hajia4Reall’s bank accounts were purportedly tied to a beauty supply store, allowing her to receive and launder significant sums without arousing suspicion.
US government Advocates for Severe Sentencing of Hajia4Reall
Based on these details and her role in the fraud conspiracy, the US government is urging a strict sentence for Hajia4Reall.
They argued that her continued criminal activities were not isolated incidents but a sustained pattern of choices to evade the law.
“In determining an appropriate sentence, the statute mandates that judges impose a penalty sufficient to reflect the seriousness of the offense, uphold respect for the law, and ensure just punishment,” the US Courts stated.
They emphasized the need for discouragement of similar criminal conduct, protection of the public from further offenses, and providing effective corrective measures for the defendant.
Thus, the US Courts are calling for a substantial prison term for Hajia4Reall, considering the severity and prolonged nature of her criminal behavior.
