Ex-chairman of the Confiscated Vehicles Allocation Committee, Carl Wilson, has expressed his belief that Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, is deserving of the presidency.
Wilson openly invited Agyapong to join to create an alliance for the 2024 elections during an appearance in an interview.
He indicated that both candidates of the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress, Mahamudu Bawumia and John Dramani Mahama respectively, are not people Ghanaians want as president any longer.
“Mahama is the last thing Ghana needs now. We don’t need Mahama neither Bawumia? Akufo Addo is my friend…I campaigned for him to win the 2016 election but I will not campaign for Mr. Digital.
“Mahama’s shoulders dropped after he lost the 2016 election but with what Akufo-Addo has done, Mahama’s shoulders are beginning to rise up and now making Mahama look like an angel.”
Carl Wilson
He therefore emphasized his call for the Assin Central Member of Parliament to join Ghana’s new third force.
“We have a third force now. Ghana has a third force. The problem in Ghana is partisan and if we continue the way we have been doing, Ghana will not go anywhere.”
Carl Wilson
Mr. Wilson added that “NDC and NPP, all the time if we have to kick them out of power, it is because of corruption. So why do we have to keep going for NDC or NPP?”
Balancing NPP-NDC Duopoly
According to him, this will ensure that there is balance in Ghana’s body politics.
“There is an imbalance in the system. What we have to do is to inject balance into the system. Even if we bring the Pope to be the President of Ghana, within one year, we will be calling the Pope corrupt because of the system that we run.”
Carl Wilson
For him, the only way is to inject balance by introducing an independent candidate into the system. He stressed that an independent person could work more efficiently and effectively with parliament. Carl Wilson mentioned that the person does not have to belong to the NPP or NDC, rather, would only have to be someone who could work to inject the balance into the system.
Mr. Wilson further explained that no party will elect Kennedy as the flagbearer but Ghanaians will make him President if he stands as an independent candidate.
“Its Kennedy Agyapong. Ghanaians should rise and support Ken Agyapong. Kennedy is the only one who can inject that balance. Bring Mahama, what is he coming to do? And don’t talk about Bawumia. He is a mess. What is Bawumia bringing to make a difference? Kennedy Agyapong will respond to the call of Ghanaians and become the president of Ghana by breaking away from the NPP.”
Carl Wilson
He reiterated that people are yearning for Kennedy Agyapong to lead Ghana in the next election.
Ahead of the NPP’s delegates elections, some political watchers projected a likely fallout by Ken Agyapong from the party to ally with Alan Kyerematen to contest the 2024 General Elections. While many saw a huge potential for the two long-serving party loyalists, many projected otherwise.
However, the seemingly peaceful nature and proactive unifying measures the NNP put in place seem to have so far kept Ken at home. The likelihood of a fallout by him seems so distant now. Notwithstanding, the way leading to Jubilee is too far to cancel the possibility. Thus far Kennedy Agyapong has become a revered personality in his party and a great player in the 2024 General elections even if he does not have his name on the ballot papers.
