Governance expert, Nii Armah Ardey, has urged the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyeben, to prove that he will not allow any political interference in his line of work as he has assured. He urged Lawyer Agyeben to ensure he tackles all issues of corruption without being biased.
Mr. Ardey averred that with the country being noted for politics in its everyday activities, the Special Prosecutor must select cases that cuts across for the public to see he is really on the crossroad to doing something very good for the nation.
“The extent to which his office will be largely accepted and celebrated if he achieves any success will also be in the selection of cases that he will prosecute. Reading this morning that he will not be dissuaded by political interference is heartwarming because you know he is going to select cases across board. We know how the country is divided in a way. We don’t put election behind us, everyday it is politics as usual.”

Gov’t must solve staff issue in SP’s office
Mr. Ardey disclosed that Lawyer Agyeben’s appointment is gaining people to be interested in the Special Prosecutors office again. He therefore called on government to immediately solve the issues of inadequate staff in the Special Prosecutor’s office which was raised by Lawyer Agyeben to enable his office work effectively.
“He spoke to the fact that human resource is not there which means that, he is going to start from scratch in recruiting and making sure that he has the relevant people in terms of human resource to get the work going. I mean we want to see how quick the work can be done and how to get the office running.”

Mr. Ardey’s comments follow the Special Prosecutor’s recent statement that he is not afraid of and will not allow political interference in his line of work as he commences work.
Special Prosecutor must put office in order
Also contributing to the discussion,;PNC Youth organizer, Mark Awisi Arkoh,;indicated that he is expecting the Special prosecutor to put the office in order as expected of him. He therefore urged the Special Prosecutor not to renege on the core mandate that has been given to him by putting things right especially by chasing out people who are corrupt.
“We just started when it comes to the Office of the Special Prosecutor. Jurisdictions in other countries are using it and we have seen the results. According to the basic research done, they are doing quite well. In our case Martin Amidu was the first person to be appointed by His Excellency, Nana Addo to occupy that particular space. We all know that Mr. Martin Amidu at a point in time made the office an office of talks and what was expected of him to do,;he wasn’t paying so much attention to it. He was rather looking at other issues that to me, did not really translate into the aims of the job.
“We have a new person and I think Agyeben has had a lot of critics from Mr. Martin Amidu for reasons that will be best known to himself. But Kissi Agyeben as we all know is very young and energetic,;I will be expecting that he puts the office in shape”. Also

He also averred that the Special prosecutor calling for additional staff proves that there was not much work done in the previous office. He stated that if Mr. Agyeben is requesting for such,;it indicates that he will do well for the nation. Also,
