The former President and the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2024 elections, John Dramani Mahama has attended a fundraising lunch hosted by the Canada Chapter of the party in Toronto.
In a statement issued by the Special Aide to the former President, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, Mr Mahama expressed his excitement about the organizational abilities and vibrancy of the National Democratic (NDC) in Canada during the event.
According to her, the National Democratic Congress flagbearer for the 2024 general elections expressed his gratitude to the members of the National Democratic Congress in Canada, who tirelessly contributed their time, effort, and resources to raise funds to support the party, stating that such activities would assist the party in executing its vision for a better Ghana in 2025.
She also noted that Mr Mahama further congratulated the Chapter for their solidarity and strong support for their member, the Member of Parliament for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson to retain the seat in the recent by-election.
“Most people have the thinking that the NDC is not very vibrant here in Canada. I will go and tell them that we have a very strong, vibrant, energetic, enthusiastic chapter in Ghana”

Furthermore, Mrs Joyce Bawa Mogtari stated that Mr Mahama praised the members for their commitment to the National Democratic Congress’s values, highlighting their impressive participation in the fundraising event.
Mahama Urges NDC Canada To Work Hard Towards Party’s Victory In 2024
Again, according to the Special Aide to the former President, Mrs Joyce Bawa Mogtari, Mr Mahama reminded the National Democratic Congress Chapter in Canada of the importance of hard work, unity, and continuous support for the party to win the upcoming 2024 general elections.
She indicated that Mr. Mahama also encouraged the branch executives from the various provinces to work with the Chapter executives to spread the National Democratic Congress’s message of hope and continue to win more people for the party.
According to Joyce Bawa Mogtari, the National Democratic Congress flagbearer for the 2024 general elections recognised the dedication of the members of the party in Canada in fostering stronger ties within the Ghanaian community in Canada and encouraged them to continue their exemplary services.
Moreover, Mrs Joyce Bawa Mogtari emphasized that the former president expressed his appreciation to a large delegation of chiefs who attended the programme, recognising that their presence reflected their desire and commitment to building one Ghana that meets the aspirations of all Ghanaians.
Again, Mrs. Joyce Bawa Mogtari indicated the audience were highly receptive, erupting into applause and dancing at various intervals of the programme. She noted that according to some, their flag bearer’s presence invigorated their dedication and commitment to the cause of the National Democratic Congress.
Additionally, she indicated that after the address of the former President, Mr Mahama and his wife engaged and interacted with the party supporters and listened to their concerns and advice.
According to her, Mr Mahama reassured the attendees of his commitment to serving the Ghanaian people and his determination to lead the National Democratic Congress to victory in the 2024 general election.
The National Democratic Congress flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama went to Canada to attend the Universities Studying Slavery (USS) Conference 2023 in Halifax and presented a paper at the University of Calgary.
He took the opportunity to connect with members of his party, the Ghanaian community, and potential investors in Ghana and Africa.
In addition to meeting with National Democratic Congress members, Mr. Mahama also engaged with the Ghanaian communities in Halifax and Calgary.
He also spoke at business forums organized by the Canada Ghana Chamber of Commerce and the Ghana Association in Canada.
