The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Fiifi Fiavi Kwettey declared the NDC is highly disappointed in the incumbent government. He stated that the NDC caucus was expecting a change with regards to the Ministerial reshuffle.

He opined that Ghanaians expected a different outcome from the cabinet reshuffling that the incompetent governance of the clueless incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP) led government has done recently.

“Amidst Dr. Bawumia’s promise that he will govern Ghana with only 50 Ministers, but what do we see? A continuation of the status quo that has plagued our nation’s progress. In an error where they clamor for efficient governance a fiscal prudence has never been louder”.

The NDC General Secretary argued that Ghanaians are experiencing hardship now due to the the bad decisions that the incumbent government continues to make.

Accordingly, Mr. Fiifi Fiavi Kwettey presented to Ghanaians the NDC’s plans intended at economic growth if they are elected into power come December 2024 elections. He suggested that these plans have well resonated with Ghanaians so far.

Furthermore, the General Secretary asserted that the recent reshuffle by the government is a reflection of the government’s disconnection from the people of Ghana.  .

He also declared the NPP despite the several appeals from Ghanaians, Civil Society Organizations and the Clergy, the President has failed to trim down the size of government.

Subsequently, Mr. Fiifi Fiavi Kwettey disclosed that the NDC plans to reduce the size of government if it is elected into power in the December 2024 Presidential Elections. He argued that a reduction in government is important for Ghana’s economic growth.

“Remember, the Vice President of this republic continues to be Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and clerly he is aware of what is going on. If fifty (referring to the proposed size of government by Dr. Bawumia) is worth doing then the fifty should as well be done now to let the people of Ghana know you mean it but clearly he does not mean it”

Moreover, Mr. Fiifi Fiavi Kwettey stated that the NPP’s insistence to keep a government with a big size is a slap in the face to the Ghanaian taxpayer. He stated that the decision of government is not visionary as it is with no regards to the country’s economic situation

The NPP’s Inconsiderate Governance

He stated that the enormous size of government which is intended to contribute to growth has catalyzed an era marked by in efficiency and failed promises.  .

More so, the General Secretary challenged the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to reduce the size of government as he pledged to do and not wait until he becomes the President.

He stated that the NPP an opportunity to convince Ghanaians of its credibility once again. He asserted that it is disappointing how little the government cares about the plights of Ghanaians.

The General Secretary ACCUSED the ruling New Patriotic Party of putting political loyalty and allegiance before the welfare of Ghanaians. He asserted that the reshuffle is not strategic and it is not intended to achieve any growth.

The General Secretary made these remarks in a press conference of the National Democratic Congress held at the party’s headquarters at Adabraka. The aim of the conference is to address Ghanaians on the plans the NDC and its Flagbearer have for the country.

Conclusively the NDC has continuously chastised the incumbent government on its economic and social policy implementations that the NDC claims has led to an economic disaster in the country. The recent ministerial reshuffle has received a lot of criticisms from thee camp of the opposition NDC.
