Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, a National Chairman hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has advised both executives and grassroots members of the Party in Atebubu-Amantin Constituency, to be united in recapturing the lost Parliamentary seat in the area.
According to him, there is the need for the Party to focus on the welfare of the polling station executives and maintain discipline in order to win back the seat as well as “break the 8”.
Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi petitioned executives addressing some Regional, Constituency and Polling Station Executives and the Grassroot Supporters at the party’s delegates conference in the Atebubu-Amantin Constituency.
As per Article 7 (27) of the Party’s constitution, the conference was held in two Zones at Akokoa in Amantin and Konkronpe in Atebubu respectively, under strict Covid-19 protocols.
“Majority of the people here are polling station executives and if we are going to win the next elections, majority of the work depends on you because you are the only people who have face to face encounter with the electorates.
“We need to start campaigning from today with support from the executives”.
“If we want to recapture the Atebubu seat in 2024, we have to start campaigning today and not wait until the last minute to start the campaign. Because we really need to win this seat and win the region as well”.

Resourcing polling stations
Additionally, Pro Ameyaw-Akumfi urged members of the the party to introduce programmes that would help resource the polling stations. This, he explained, will help them in the dispensation of their mandates.
Following this, he called on the delegates to support his quest to lead the party as the National Chairman ahead of the next elections.
The Constituency Executives together with the former Parliamentary candidate thanked the party stalwart for his immense contributions. Furthermore, they expressed their gratitude for his support during the election and pledged their unflinching support for his bid to become the National Chairman of the great elephant party, NPP.
Also present at the conference includes the Bono East Regional Chairman, Thomas Adu Appiah, Constituency Chairman, Atebubu-Amantin, Alhaji Musah Shaibu, former MP and Bono East Region Minister Kofi Amoakohene, amongst others.
Bongo constituency commends Ameyaw Akumfi Chairmanship bid
In June this year, council of Elders of the Bongo constituency in Upper East Region commended Prof Ameyaw Akumfi for his decision to contest the national chairmanship position of the NPP.
Speaking on behalf of the council of Elders a former DCE for Bongo, Hon. Clement Apiekia revealed that, they’re witnesses of the good works of Prof Ameyaw Akumfi. As such, he urged aspirants to eschew slander in their campaign that could provide political weapons for the opposition NDC for the 2024 campaign.
“Prof Ameyaw Akumfi is very discipline, committed and easily accessible personality and as the saying goes the early bird catches the wind. So, as you have come to see and pay homage to us first, we will also support you 100% for your chairmanship bid. For some of us were very happy when we heard you are contesting”.

On his part, Professor Ameyaw-Akumfi indicated that he would also put up proper structures to push for a ‘standing army’ in the party.
“I believe that the youth in our party should be given the opportunity to serve. They should support the youth to design policies to encourage youth participation in the organization of the party”.
